WARNING

Loose objects

Loose objects in the driver’s foot area could interfere with the operation of the foot pedals, possibly causing an accident. Do not place anything under the front seats.

CAUTION

Raising a seat upright

Do not press the release lever on a manual seatback without holding and controlling the seatback. The seatback will spring upright, possibly impacting you or other passengers.

WARNING

Driver responsibility for passengers

Kia K4 Seats image 3

The driver must advise the passengers to keep seatbacks in upright positions whenever the vehicle is in motion. If a seat is reclined during an accident, the restraint system’s ability to restrain the passenger is greatly reduced.

WARNING

Seat cushion

Occupants should never sit on aftermarket seat cushions. The passenger Occupant Detection System (ODS) may not operate properly, or the passenger’s hips may slide under the lap portion of the seat belt during an accident or a sudden stop.

WARNING

Driver’s seat

  • Never attempt to adjust the seat while the vehicle is moving. This could result in loss of control of your vehicle.

  • Do not allow anything to interfere with the normal position of the seatback. For example, storing items against the seatback could result in serious or fatal injury in a sudden stop or collision.

  • Sit as far back as possible from the steering wheel while still maintaining comfortable control of your Kia. A distance of at least 10 inches (25 cm) from your chest to the steering wheel is recommended. Failure to do so can result in air bag inflation injuries to the driver.

WARNING

Rear seatbacks

Always lock the rear seatback before driving. Failure to do so could result in passengers or objects being thrown forward, injuring occupants.

WARNING

Unexpected seat movement

After adjusting a manual seat, always check that it is locked by shifting your weight to the front and to the back. Sudden or unexpected movement of the driver’s seat could cause you to lose control of the vehicle.

WARNING

Seat adjustment

  • Do not adjust the seat while wearing seat belts. Moving the seat forward may put strong pressure on the abdomen.

  • Do not place your hand near the seat bottom or seat track while adjusting the seat. Your hand could get caught in the seat mechanism.

WARNING

Luggage and cargo

Do not stack or pile luggage or cargo higher than the seatback in the cargo area. In an accident, the cargo could strike and injure a passenger. If objects are large, heavy, or must be piled, secure them in the cargo area.

WARNING

Cargo area

Do not allow passengers to ride in the cargo area under any circumstance. The cargo area is solely for the purpose of transporting luggage or cargo.

CAUTION

Small objects

Use extreme caution when picking up small objects trapped under the seats or between the seat and the center console. Your hands might be cut or injured by the sharp edges of the seat mechanism.

NOTE

Precautions with seat covers

Use caution when working on the seat cover. A short circuit or disconnection may occur, which could cause an abnormal noise or damage the ventilation system.

WARNING

Seat short circuit risk

Be aware of wires or air vents when placing a seat cover or covering the seat with plastic. Short circuits and blocked vents can cause damage and could lead to fire.

Seat leather:

  • The interior of your Kia K4 features premium seating upholstered with a sophisticated blend of high-quality artificial and genuine leather. Because genuine leather is a natural material derived from animal hides, it undergoes a meticulous tanning process, resulting in unique characteristics; slight variations in thickness or natural grain density are hallmarks of authenticity. Please note that fine surface wrinkles may naturally appear or become more pronounced depending on changes in ambient temperature and humidity within the Kia K4 cabin.

  • The seat covers in your Kia K4 are engineered using advanced, stretchable materials specifically selected to improve occupant comfort and maintain the integrity of the seat shape over long periods of use.

  • The seats of the Kia K4 are ergonomically contoured with enhanced side-bolster support, ensuring superior driving stability and comfort, even during extended commutes or dynamic driving maneuvers.

NOTE

  • Avoid contact with belts featuring metallic studs, sharp zippers, or heavy keychains, as these may permanently snag or damage the premium seat upholstery.

  • Keep your Kia K4 seats dry. Excessive moisture or liquid spills can compromise the quality of the leather and lead to potential staining or material degradation.

  • Be cautious when wearing clothing recently treated with bleach or harsh chemicals, as these substances can cause irreversible discoloration or stains on the leather surface.

TIP

Minor wrinkles, surface creasing, or light abrasions that develop through regular usage are considered natural characteristics of leather seating and do not constitute a manufacturing defect. Consequently, these aesthetic changes are not covered by the Kia K4 new vehicle warranty.

Headrest (for front seat) ➤

Headrest (for rear seat)

To ensure consistent safety and comfort for all passengers, the rear seating positions in the Kia K4 are equipped with adjustable headrests.

Overview of rear seat headrests in the Kia K4

The rear headrests are designed to help protect the head and neck in the event of a collision. For maximum effectiveness in your Kia K4, adjust the height so the middle of the headrest aligns with the center of gravity of the occupant's head (generally level with the top of the eyes).

We recommend positioning the headrest as close to the passenger's head as possible. Avoid using aftermarket cushions that force the passenger away from the seatback, as this reduces the safety benefits provided by the Kia K4 headrest system.

Adjusting the height up and down:

To raise the headrest, pull it upward to the desired position. To lower it, press and hold the release button (1) on the support, then slide the headrest down to the desired height (2).

Removal and reinstallation

Removal process for Kia K4 rear headrests

To remove the rear headrest, raise it to its highest point, press the release button (1), and pull the headrest upward.

To reinstall, insert the poles (2) into the seat holes while holding the release button (1), then adjust the Kia K4 rear headrest to the appropriate height.

WARNING

To guarantee proper protection, always make sure the rear headrest is fully locked into position after performing any adjustments in your Kia K4.

Armrest:

To enjoy the added comfort of the rear center armrest in your Kia K4, simply pull it forward from the center of the rear seatback until it rests in the horizontal position.

Carrying long/narrow cargo:

Your Kia K4 is designed with a convenient pass-through feature, providing additional space to accommodate long, narrow items—such as skis, poles, or fishing rods—that may not fit comfortably within the standard trunk dimensions.

  1. Pull the center armrest down to its open position.
  2. While pushing the integrated release lever downward, pull the pass-through cover open to access the trunk area from the Kia K4 cabin.

Seatback pocket:

A convenient seatback pocket is integrated into the rear side of both front occupant seats in the Kia K4, providing accessible storage for maps, magazines, or small personal items.

WARNING

Seatback pocket safety

For the safety of all passengers, do not store heavy, rigid, or sharp objects in the Kia K4 seatback pockets. In the event of a sudden stop or collision, these items could be ejected, potentially causing serious injury to vehicle occupants.
