Kia K4: Seats / Front seat adjustment for manual seat:

Contents:

To personalize your driving experience in the Kia K4, utilize the adjustment levers located on the outboard side of the seat cushion to modify the position and recline.

Moving forward and backward

Always perform seat adjustments before putting the Kia K4 in motion. Once you have reached your desired position, verify the seat is securely locked by attempting to shift the seat forward or backward without engaging the lever. If the seat shifts at all, it is not properly latched into the floor track.

  1. Pull the seat slide adjustment lever upward and maintain a firm hold.
  2. Slide the seat cushion forward or backward to your preferred driving position.
  3. Release the lever and perform a quick check to ensure the locking mechanism has fully engaged.

Reclining seatback

To modify the seatback angle in your Kia K4:

  1. Lean your body weight slightly forward to remove tension from the seatback, then lift the recliner lever.
  2. Carefully lean backward until you reach the desired angle.
  3. Release the lever and ensure the seatback locks securely into place. Note that the lever MUST return to its original home position for the internal locking mechanism to fully engage.

WARNING

Reclining seatback hazards

Sitting in a deeply reclined position while the Kia K4 is in motion is extremely dangerous. Even when your seat belt is fastened, an excessively reclined seatback significantly negates the protection provided by your seat belts and air bags.

Seat belts must remain snug across your hips and chest to function as intended during a collision. When the seatback is heavily reclined, the shoulder belt cannot maintain proper contact with your chest. In the event of an accident, you risk being thrown into the seat belt or, even worse, sliding underneath the lap portion of the belt (submarining). This significantly increases the risk of sustaining severe neck, abdominal, spinal, or other internal injuries. The greater the recline angle, the higher the probability of these life-threatening events occurring.

Changing seat cushion height

To modify the vertical position of the seat cushion in your Kia K4:

  1. To lower the seat cushion, firmly push the adjustment lever downward repeatedly until the desired height is reached.
  2. To raise the seat cushion, pull the adjustment lever upward repeatedly until you achieve a comfortable seating position.
