Power liftgate operating conditions
The Kia EV6 power liftgate system operates when the vehicle is in P (Park) while running. When the vehicle is turned off, the power liftgate can still operate regardless of gear position. For safety reasons, the liftgate only opens when vehicle speed remains below 1.8 mph (3 km/h).
Before using the Kia EV6 power liftgate, always confirm that the vehicle is securely shifted into P (Park).
WARNING
Never leave children or pets unattended inside the Kia EV6. Accidental activation of the power liftgate could result in injury or damage.
Always ensure there are no people, vehicles, walls, ceilings, or nearby obstacles in the path of the power liftgate or smart liftgate system before operating it. Contact with the moving liftgate may cause severe injury or property damage.

Under the following conditions, the Kia EV6 liftgate may fail to open properly or may unexpectedly close, potentially causing injury:
Heavy snow accumulation is present on the liftgate.
A large accessory or heavy object such as a bicycle rack or ladder is mounted to the liftgate.
Always remove snow, ice, or heavy cargo carriers before opening the Kia EV6 power liftgate.
NOTE
Avoid manually forcing the Kia EV6 power liftgate open or closed. This may damage the power liftgate motor or related components. If manual operation becomes necessary because of battery discharge, use only minimal force.
When the vehicle is not running, avoid operating the power liftgate repeatedly more than 10 times continuously to reduce battery drain.
Leaving the Kia EV6 power liftgate open for extended periods may discharge the vehicle battery.
Do not apply excessive pressure or resistance while the power liftgate is moving, as this may damage the system.
Never hang from or pull on the liftgate support struts. Damaging the support struts could lead to liftgate malfunction or personal injury.

Do not attempt to modify, repair, or disassemble any component of the Kia EV6 power liftgate system yourself. Repairs should only be carried out by an authorized Kia dealer.
The Kia EV6 power liftgate may not function correctly under the following conditions:
When one side of the vehicle is raised during tire replacement or inspection.
When parked on steep slopes or uneven surfaces.
Before entering an automatic car wash, fully close the liftgate and lock all doors using the central locking system.
Do not spray high-pressure water directly at the outside Kia EV6 power liftgate open/close switch, as unintended operation may occur.
TIP
If the Kia EV6 liftgate is not fully closed and vehicle speed exceeds 1.8 mph (3 km/h), a warning tone will sound 10 times. Safely stop the vehicle immediately and secure the liftgate completely.
In freezing weather conditions, the exterior power liftgate button may temporarily stop functioning due to ice buildup. Remove ice before operating the system or use the smart key or interior liftgate controls instead.
Repeatedly operating the Kia EV6 power liftgate more than 5 times continuously may overheat the liftgate motor. If overheating protection activates, the system will temporarily stop operating and sound a chime 3 times. Allow approximately 1 minute for cooling before using the liftgate again.
Under certain conditions, the Kia EV6 power liftgate system may require resetting. This can occur in situations such as:
After the 12V battery has been recharged
After reinstalling or replacing the 12V battery
After reinstalling or replacing the related fuse
|
With the Kia EV6 in POWER ON or DRIVE READY mode, shift the vehicle into P (Park).
Press the inner and outer power liftgate open/close buttons simultaneously until a chime sounds.
Carefully close the liftgate manually.
Press the outer power liftgate button. The Kia EV6 liftgate will begin opening automatically with a confirmation chime.
Allow the liftgate to reach the fully open position in order to complete the reset procedure successfully. If the liftgate stops before fully opening, the reset process will not finish correctly.
TIP
If the Kia EV6 power liftgate system still does not operate properly after completing the reset procedure, have the system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer or qualified service center.
