Knowing how to use the Kia Seltos door locks correctly helps you lock or unlock the vehicle safely whenever necessary. The door lock system should always be used according to the vehicle instructions, especially when leaving the vehicle parked or when passengers are inside.
Operating door locks from outside the vehicle

Pull out the outside door handle.

Press the lever (1) located inside the lower part of the cover using a key or a flat-head screwdriver.

While pressing the lever, push out the cover (2).

Turn the key (3) toward the rear of the Kia Seltos to unlock the door, or toward the front of the vehicle to lock it.

If you lock the driver's door with a key, only the driver's door will lock or unlock.

From the driver's door, turn the key toward the rear of the vehicle once to unlock the driver's door. Turn it once more within 4 seconds to unlock all doors.

The doors can also be locked and unlocked using the folding key or smart key, depending on the Kia Seltos equipment.

Once the doors are unlocked, they can be opened by pulling the outside door handle.

When closing a door, push it by hand and make sure it is securely closed.

Before pulling the outside door handle, remove the key to help prevent scratches or damage to the paintwork.
NOTICE

In cold and wet weather, the door locks and door mechanisms may not operate properly because of freezing conditions.

If the door is locked or unlocked many times in quick succession using the vehicle key or the central door lock switch, the system may stop operating temporarily to protect the circuit and prevent damage to door lock components.
WARNING

Securely close every door before driving the Kia Seltos. If a door is not fully closed, it may open while the vehicle is moving.

Keep your body, hands, and clothing clear of the closing door to help prevent injury.
WARNING
If passengers must remain inside the Kia Seltos when the outside temperature is very hot or very cold, there is a risk of injury or danger to life. Do not lock the vehicle from the outside when passengers are still inside.
CAUTION
Do not open and close the door repeatedly without need, and do not use excessive force. Rough operation may damage the Kia Seltos door, latch, or related components.
NOTICE
When leaving your Kia Seltos unattended, always place the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button in the OFF position, engage the parking brake, close all windows, and lock all doors.
Operating door locks from inside the vehicle
You can operate the Kia Seltos door locks from inside the vehicle using the central door lock switch.
This switch provides convenient control for locking or unlocking the doors when passengers are entering, exiting, or preparing for travel.

In case of an emergency
If the electrical power door lock switch is not operating, for example because of a discharged vehicle battery, the only way to lock the door from outside may be by using the mechanical key in the outside keyhole.
On the Kia Seltos, doors that do not have an outside keyhole can be locked manually by using the emergency door lock procedure below.

Open the door.

Insert the key into the emergency door lock hole and turn the key horizontally to lock the door.

Close the door securely and check that it is fully latched.
NOTICE
If electrical power to the door lock switch is not operating, such as when the vehicle battery is discharged, and the liftgate is closed, the liftgate cannot be opened until power is restored.
Child-protector rear door lock
The child-protector rear door lock is provided to help prevent children from accidentally opening the rear doors from inside the Kia Seltos.
The rear door safety locks should be used whenever children are riding in the vehicle.
The child safety lock is located on the edge of each rear door. When the child safety lock is in the lock position (1), the rear door cannot be opened by pulling the inside door handle.
To lock the child safety lock, insert a key or screwdriver into the hole and turn it to the lock position.
To allow the rear door to be opened from inside the vehicle, unlock the child safety lock.
To open the rear door from outside, pull the outside door handle (2).

Rear door locks
If children accidentally open the rear doors while the Kia Seltos is moving, they could fall out and be severely injured or killed. To help prevent children from opening the rear doors from inside, use the rear door safety locks whenever children are in the vehicle.
