Note: In the diagrams above, the left side displays a functional (normal) fuse, while the right side displays a damaged (blown) fuse with a melted internal element.
Please note that the physical layout and labeling of the fuse and relay panels may vary depending on the specific equipment and trim level of your Kia K4.
Fuses serve as vital protective components, safeguarding the complex electrical system of the Kia K4 from damage caused by electrical overloads or short circuits.
Your Kia K4 is equipped with two or three distinct fuse panels: one located behind the driver-side interior trim panel (bolster), and additional units situated in the engine compartment, typically located near the battery for main circuit protection.
If any of the vehicle's interior lights, electronic accessories, or control systems fail to operate, you should first inspect the appropriate circuit fuse. When a fuse is blown, the internal metal element will appear melted or broken, interrupting the flow of electricity.
If you encounter an electrical issue, always inspect the driver-side interior fuse panel first, as it contains the most frequently accessed circuits.
If a replacement fuse blows shortly after installation, this is a clear indication of a persistent electrical fault or short circuit within the system. In such cases, avoid attempting further repairs on the affected system and immediately consult an authorized Kia dealer for professional diagnosis.
The Kia K4 utilizes three primary types of fuses to ensure optimal protection: blade-type fuses for lower amperage ratings, cartridge-type fuses for intermediate loads, and multi-fuse assemblies for high-amperage circuit protection.
WARNING
Important safety guidelines for fuse replacement
Never replace a blown fuse with one of a different amperage rating. Installing a higher-capacity fuse than specified for the Kia K4 circuit can lead to severe wiring damage, component overheating, and poses a significant risk of vehicle fire.
Never attempt to bypass a fuse by installing wire, aluminum foil, or any other conductive material in its place, even for a temporary emergency repair. Doing so will eliminate your vehicle's electrical protection, potentially causing extensive wiring harness destruction and a high risk of fire.
Always ensure the vehicle ignition is turned completely OFF before removing or replacing any fuse.
To preserve the integrity of the factory electrical architecture, do not arbitrarily modify, splice, or add aftermarket electric wiring to your Kia K4.
NOTE
Always use the designated fuse puller tool when removing fuses. Never use a screwdriver or any other sharp metal object to pry them out, as this can easily cause a short circuit and permanent damage to the delicate electrical system of your Kia K4.
TIP
Before replacing any fuse, ensure the ENGINE START/STOP button is fully deactivated (OFF position) and all electronic switches are turned off. For maximum safety, disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal before performing any electrical maintenance.
Please be aware that the actual labels, layout, or configuration of the fuse and relay panels may differ from those shown in this manual based on the specific production date and equipment level of your Kia K4.
WARNING
Preventing electrical fires
Always ensure that all replacement fuses and relays are securely seated and firmly fastened in their respective sockets. Loose connections can generate heat due to increased electrical resistance, which may result in a vehicle fire.
Do not attempt to remove fuses, relays, or terminals that are specifically fastened with bolts or nuts. These components are integrated into main power circuits; if they appear blown or damaged, attempting to remove them yourself may result in incomplete installation or improper contact. If you believe a bolt-down fuse or relay is faulty, consult an authorized Kia dealer for expert service.
NOTE
When installing a replacement fuse or relay, confirm that it fits snugly within the retaining clips. A loose-fitting fuse can cause intermittent connectivity, arcing, and significant damage to the vehicle's wiring harnesses and overall electrical network.
CAUTION
Never insert foreign objects, such as screwdrivers, paperclips, or jumper wires, into the fuse or relay terminals. This can cause contact failure, short circuits, and critical system malfunctions within your Kia K4.
The internal junction block can overheat and melt if you attempt to directly wire accessories, such as trailer tail lamps, or if you replace existing bulbs with units exceeding the regulated wattage capacity.
NOTE
Electrical wiring repairs
For your safety, all electrical repairs and diagnostic procedures on your Kia K4 should be performed by an authorized Kia dealership using genuine, approved Kia components. The use of non-standard wiring, particularly when retrofitting third-party multimedia systems, theft alarms, cellular devices, or amateur radio equipment, can cause widespread vehicle damage and significantly increase the risk of an electrical fire.
NOTE
Rewiring prohibited
Do not attempt to rewire or bypass factory circuits in your Kia K4. Modifications to the electrical system can negatively affect the performance of critical safety features, including the airbag control module and driver assistance systems. Furthermore, unauthorized rewiring may void your factory warranty, making you personally responsible for any subsequent damage or malfunction resulting from the modifications.
To safely replace a fuse located in the interior fuse panel of your Kia K4, please adhere to the following professional procedure:

|
If the new fuse feels loose or does not seat properly, please consult an authorized Kia dealer to avoid potential electrical arcing.
In an emergency situation where no spare fuse is available, you may temporarily swap a blown fuse with one of the same rating from a non-critical circuit, such as the cigarette lighter or power outlet fuse.
Note: If essential exterior lighting—such as headlamps, tail lamps, brake lamps, or daytime running lights (DRL)—fails to operate and the corresponding fuses are verified to be intact, please contact an authorized Kia dealer for diagnostic service.
