  1. Check Driver Assistance system

If the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system in your Kia K4 encounters a fault and is not functioning correctly, the instrument cluster will provide visual alerts to notify the driver. These include the Master warning light (Master warning light symbol on Kia K4 dashboard), the Forward Safety warning light (Forward Safety warning indicator on Kia K4), and the Emergency Steering warning light (Emergency Steering warning light on Kia K4). A descriptive warning message will also persist for several seconds. If you see these alerts, please have your Kia K4 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system relies on clear sensor visibility to operate effectively. Environmental factors such as heavy snow, mud, or rain accumulating on the windshield (where the front camera is positioned), the front radar cover, or the bumper can significantly reduce detection performance, leading to a temporary limitation or full deactivation of the system in your Kia K4.

Should the system be affected, the instrument cluster will display a warning message accompanied by the Forward Safety warning light (Forward Safety warning indicator), the Emergency Steering warning light (Emergency Steering warning indicator), and the Master warning light (Master warning light).

In most cases, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system will resume normal operation automatically once you have cleared the foreign material (such as snow or debris) from the sensors. However, if the system fails to operate correctly after the sensors are clean, or if you suspect obstructions from external accessories (such as a trailer or rear-mounted carrier), please contact an authorized Kia dealer to have your Kia K4 thoroughly inspected.

WARNING

Always be aware that the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system may not function as expected even if no explicit warning messages or indicator lights appear on your Kia K4 instrument cluster.

TIP

To verify the current operational status of the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system, you can navigate to the "Service" section within the utility information view on the Kia K4 instrument cluster display window.
