Kia EV6: Opening and closing / Theft-alarm system

Contents:

The theft-alarm system of the Kia EV6 is designed to help protect the vehicle against unauthorized access and potential theft attempts. This advanced security system monitors door, hood, and liftgate activity and activates warning functions if unauthorized entry is detected.

Security and theft-alarm system operation on the Kia EV6

The Kia EV6 theft-alarm system operates in three separate stages. The first stage is the “Armed” mode, followed by the “Theft-alarm” activation stage, and finally the “Disarmed” stage. When the system detects unauthorized entry, the horn sounds and the hazard warning lights begin flashing to alert nearby individuals.

The integrated anti-theft functions of the Kia EV6 work together with the smart key and immobilizer system to improve vehicle protection and owner security.

Armed stage ➤

Theft-alarm stage

The alarm system activates if any of the following conditions occur while the Kia EV6 security system is armed:

  • A front or rear door is opened without using the smart key.

  • The liftgate is opened without authorization or without using the smart key.

  • The hood is opened unexpectedly.

When activated, the horn sounds repeatedly and the hazard warning lights flash continuously for approximately 27 seconds. The horn cycle repeats up to three times unless the Kia EV6 theft-alarm system is properly disarmed.

To stop the alarm system, unlock the vehicle using the registered Kia EV6 smart key.

Disarmed stage

The Kia EV6 theft-alarm system automatically disarms under the following condition:

  • The doors or liftgate are unlocked using the registered smart key.

After pressing the unlock button, the hazard warning lights flash and the smart key chime sounds twice to indicate that the system has been successfully disarmed.

If no doors or the liftgate are opened within approximately 30 seconds after unlocking, the Kia EV6 theft-alarm system automatically rearms for continued security protection.

NOTE

  • Avoid attempting to start the Kia EV6 while the theft alarm is active. During the theft-alarm stage, the starting motor is disabled as part of the anti-theft protection system.

If the system cannot be disarmed using the smart key, unlock the doors using the mechanical emergency key and start the vehicle by directly pressing the EV button with the smart key.

  • If the Kia EV6 smart keys are lost, contact an authorized Kia dealer immediately for assistance and security reconfiguration.

CAUTION

Adjusting Alarm System

Do not modify, alter, or attempt to adjust the Kia EV6 theft-alarm system yourself. Incorrect installation or unauthorized modifications may damage vehicle electronics or cause the security system to malfunction improperly.

NOTE

Malfunctions caused by unauthorized alterations, improper adjustments, or modifications to the Kia EV6 theft-alarm system are not covered by the manufacturer’s vehicle warranty.
