Basic function

Kia EV6 Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist sensor fusion front safety detection system

The Kia EV6 Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system uses advanced sensor fusion technology to help detect vehicles, motorcycles, pedestrians, and cyclists traveling ahead of the vehicle.

When a potential collision risk is detected, the Kia EV6 may warn the driver using audible alerts, visual warning messages on the instrument cluster, and additional system notifications.

If the driver does not react quickly enough, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system may automatically apply emergency braking to help reduce collision impact speed or, in certain situations, help avoid the collision entirely.

The Kia EV6 FCA system is designed to monitor traffic conditions continuously and may also recognize vehicles located in adjacent lanes, even during high-speed driving conditions.

If the driver attempts a lane change while another vehicle is approaching rapidly, the Kia EV6 may activate emergency braking assistance to help mitigate or prevent a collision.: (if equipped)

The system combines information from the front camera, radar sensors, and additional vehicle detection technologies to improve overall driving safety and driver awareness.

Junction Turning function

The Junction Turning function in the Kia EV6 is designed to help reduce the risk of collisions while turning left at intersections or crossroads.

If the system detects an oncoming vehicle, motorcycle, powered two-wheeler, or cyclist approaching from the opposite direction while the turn signal is activated, the Kia EV6 may automatically apply emergency braking assistance.

This feature helps improve intersection safety and supports the driver during complex turning situations where visibility or reaction time may be limited.

The Junction Turning system is especially useful in urban traffic environments with heavy cross-traffic and frequent pedestrian or cyclist activity.

Junction Crossing function: (if equipped)

  • Driver steering assist

If the Kia EV6 detects a possible collision risk involving a vehicle ahead, pedestrians, cyclists, or powered two-wheelers, and the driver attempts to steer away from the danger, the Evasive Steering Assist system may provide additional steering support.

This assistance helps the driver perform smoother and more stable avoidance maneuvers during emergency situations.

  • Evasive steering assist

The Kia EV6 Evasive Steering Assist function is designed to help avoid collisions with vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, or powered two-wheelers located ahead in the same lane.

When a potential collision risk is detected, the system may warn the driver through visual and audible alerts while simultaneously assisting steering input if the driver turns the steering wheel.

The Evasive Steering Assist system operates only when sufficient space is available for the Kia EV6 to perform an avoidance maneuver safely.

The function evaluates nearby road conditions, surrounding traffic, and available operating space before providing steering intervention.

This feature can help improve driver response during sudden obstacle avoidance situations and supports safer emergency maneuvering.
