The Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) system is designed to help improve driving safety by detecting vehicles approaching within the driver’s blind spot zones.
If the Kia EV6 detects a potential collision risk in the blind spot area, the system can warn the driver using visual indicators in the side mirrors, audible alerts, and steering wheel vibration warnings.
Under certain conditions, the Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system may also assist with braking or steering intervention to help reduce the possibility of a collision.
When exiting a parallel parking space, the Kia EV6 BCA system can additionally help avoid collisions with approaching vehicles by automatically applying brake assistance if necessary.
|
The Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system continuously monitors surrounding traffic and alerts the driver when another vehicle enters the blind spot detection zone.
CAUTION
The Kia EV6 blind spot detection range may vary depending on vehicle speed, surrounding traffic, weather conditions, and road environment.
Even if another vehicle is located within the blind spot area, the Kia EV6 BCA system may not immediately issue a warning if your vehicle passes surrounding traffic at very high speed.
|
The Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system can also detect vehicles rapidly approaching from behind toward the blind spot area.
When an approaching vehicle is detected at high speed, the Kia EV6 may provide earlier or stronger warning notifications to help increase driver awareness.
CAUTION
The timing of Kia EV6 blind spot warnings may vary depending on the speed and direction of approaching vehicles.
|
When driving the Kia EV6 forward out of a parking space, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist may determine that there is a collision risk with a vehicle approaching from the side or rear blind spot area.
In these situations, the Kia EV6 may automatically apply braking assistance to help reduce the risk of impact.
Detection sensor
Please refer to the Detecting Sensor(s) section for detailed information regarding the applicable Kia EV6 sensors and their installation locations.
The Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system primarily uses rear corner radar sensors to monitor surrounding traffic conditions and blind spot areas.
CAUTION
Never disassemble, modify, or intentionally damage the Kia EV6 detection sensor assemblies.
If the Kia EV6 detecting sensors or nearby sensor areas are damaged, impacted, or deformed in any way, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist may not operate properly even if no warning message appears on the instrument cluster.
Have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer after any impact or repair involving the bumper or sensor areas.
If the Kia EV6 rear corner radar sensors are replaced or repaired, system calibration and inspection should be performed by an authorized Kia dealer.
The genuine Kia EV6 rear bumper is specifically designed to support proper radar sensor performance and detection accuracy.
If paint, aftermarket coatings, or modifications are applied improperly, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist may not function correctly.
Use only Kia Genuine Parts or equivalent high-quality replacement components when repairing or replacing the bumper.
Do not install license plate frames, bumper guards, stickers, films, decorative accessories, or other objects near the Kia EV6 rear corner radar areas.
The Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system may become limited or disabled if the rear bumper is replaced, damaged, repainted, or improperly repaired.
Installing a trailer, cargo carrier, bicycle rack, or similar accessory on the Kia EV6 may negatively affect rear radar sensor performance and reduce Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist effectiveness.
Heavy rain, snow, mud, ice, or road debris accumulated near the Kia EV6 rear bumper may temporarily reduce radar detection performance.
