Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist malfunction

Kia EV6 Driver Assistance system malfunction warning message on instrument cluster
  1. Check Driver Assistance system

If the Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system is not operating properly, a warning message will appear on the instrument cluster for several seconds together with the Master Warning light (Kia EV6 Master Warning indicator light).

This warning indicates that the Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system may require inspection, calibration, or service.

If this occurs, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

The Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system relies on rear corner radar sensors, electronic control modules, mirror warning indicators, and braking support systems for proper operation.

  1. Check side view mirror warning light

If the Kia EV6 outside rear view mirror warning indicator is not functioning correctly, an additional warning message will appear on the instrument cluster for several seconds together with the Master Warning light (Kia EV6 Master Warning light for mirror warning system malfunction).

If this condition occurs, have the Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system inspected and repaired by an authorized Kia dealer.

Proper operation of the side mirror warning lights is essential for effective Kia EV6 blind spot monitoring and collision warning functionality.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist disabled

Kia EV6 Driver Assistance system limited radar blocked warning message
  1. Driver Assistance system limited. Radar blocked.

If the Kia EV6 rear bumper area or rear corner radar sensors become covered by foreign material such as snow, ice, heavy rain, mud, or dirt, the detection performance of Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist may become temporarily limited or disabled.

Installing accessories such as trailers, bicycle racks, cargo carriers, or other attachments near the Kia EV6 rear bumper may also interfere with radar detection performance.

Under these conditions, the Kia EV6 instrument cluster will display a warning message together with the Master Warning light (Kia EV6 Master Warning system alert icon).

In most cases, this does not indicate a permanent malfunction of the Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system.

The Kia EV6 radar obstruction status can be checked through the utility information view on the instrument cluster display.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist should resume normal operation after foreign material such as snow, rain, mud, or debris is removed from the radar area and any accessories or obstructions are removed from the rear bumper.

After cleaning the sensors or removing the obstruction, restart the Kia EV6 to allow the system to reinitialize properly.

If the Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system still does not operate correctly after removing the obstruction, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING

  • Even if no warning message appears on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist may still not operate correctly.

  • The Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system may not operate properly immediately after the vehicle is started in open terrain or environments with very few surrounding objects.

  • If the Kia EV6 detection sensors remain blocked by snow, rain, dirt, mud, or other foreign material immediately after vehicle startup, blind spot monitoring performance may become temporarily limited.

  • Heavy weather conditions such as snowstorms, dense fog, or heavy rainfall may temporarily reduce Kia EV6 radar sensor detection capability.

  • Always directly check surrounding traffic conditions and blind spot areas before changing lanes or exiting parking spaces, even when Kia EV6 driver assistance systems are active.

  • Do not rely solely on the Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system to detect motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, or small objects near the vehicle.

CAUTION

Turn OFF the Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system before installing or removing a trailer, carrier, bicycle rack, or similar rear attachment.

After installation or removal is complete, turn Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist back ON and verify that the Kia EV6 system operates normally.

NOTE

You can check the Kia EV6 Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist system status through the service message section of the utility information display on the instrument cluster.

Depending on Kia EV6 trim level, instrument cluster theme, or software version, displayed graphics, warning icons, and messages may appear differently.
