Kia Seltos: Features of your vehicle / Theft-alarm system
Contents:
The Kia Seltos theft-alarm system is designed to help protect the vehicle from unauthorized entry and unwanted access.
This system operates in three stages: the first is the "Armed" stage, the second is the "Theft-alarm" stage, and the third is the "Disarmed" stage. If the system is triggered, the Kia Seltos provides an audible alarm and the hazard warning lights blink to draw attention to the vehicle.
The theft-alarm system is intended to support vehicle security, but it does not replace careful locking habits. Always check that all doors, the liftgate, and the hood are fully closed before leaving the vehicle.
CAUTION
Do not attempt to alter the Kia Seltos theft-alarm system or add unauthorized devices to it.
Armed stage
The armed stage is activated when the vehicle is locked properly using the folding key or smart key. In this condition, the Kia Seltos monitors the doors, liftgate, and hood for unauthorized opening.
Theft-alarm stage
The alarm will be activated if any of the following occurs while the system is armed:
-
A front or rear door is opened without using the folding key or smart key.
-
The liftgate is opened without using the folding key or smart key.
-
The hood is opened.
The horn will sound and the hazard warning lights will blink continuously for approximately 27 seconds. The horn may also sound 3 times unless the system is disarmed. To turn off the alarm, unlock the doors using the folding key or smart key.
