Kia Seltos: Features of your vehicle / Sunroof
Contents:
If your Kia Seltos is equipped with a sunroof, you can slide or tilt the sunroof glass using the sunroof switch located on the overhead console. This feature adds extra light and ventilation to the cabin, but it should always be operated carefully and only when conditions are safe.
The sunroof can be operated only when the ignition switch or the ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ON or START position. The Kia Seltos sunroof may also operate for approximately 3 minutes after the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button is placed in the ACC or LOCK/OFF position. However, if a front door is opened during this period, the sunroof will no longer operate.
WARNING
-
Operate the sunroof preferably while the vehicle is stationary. Operating the sunroof while driving may distract the driver, interfere with safe control of the Kia Seltos, and increase the risk of an accident.
-
Even when leaving the vehicle for a short time, turn off the ignition and take the key with you to prevent children from operating the sunroof.
-
Do not sit on the roof or place heavy objects on it. Excessive weight may damage the sunroof, roof panel, or related components.
NOTICE
Do not operate the Kia Seltos sunroof when roof bars are installed or when luggage is loaded on the roof. Objects mounted above the roof may interfere with sunroof movement and cause damage.
Sunshade
Use the sunshade to help block direct sunlight coming through the sunroof glass. The sunshade can make the Kia Seltos cabin more comfortable on bright days by reducing glare and heat from overhead sunlight.
Open or close the sunshade manually by hand.
NOTICE
The sunshade opens automatically when the sunroof glass moves, but it does not close automatically when the sunroof glass is closed. Also, the sunshade alone cannot be closed while the sunroof glass is open.
NOTICE
Do not pull the sunshade up or down, and do not apply excessive force. Improper handling may damage the Kia Seltos sunshade or cause it to malfunction.
Tilt open/close
-
Tilt open
-
Tilt close
-
Push the sunroof switch upward to tilt the sunroof glass open.
-
When the sunroof glass is tilted open, push the sunroof switch forward to close it.
The sunroof glass tilts open or closes while the switch is being pushed. Release the switch when the glass reaches the desired position.
NOTICE
The sunroof glass cannot slide open and tilt open at the same time. You cannot tilt the sunroof glass open while it is already slid open, and you cannot slide it open while it is tilted. For proper Kia Seltos sunroof operation, use the slide-open or tilt-open function only when the sunroof glass is completely closed.
Slide open/close
-
Push the sunroof switch rearward to slide open the sunshade and sunroof glass. Push the switch forward to close only the sunroof glass.
-
Push the sunroof switch forward or rearward to the first detent position, and the sunroof glass will move only while the switch is held.
-
Push the sunroof switch forward or rearward to the second detent position, and the sunroof glass will operate automatically using the auto slide feature.
To stop the sunroof movement at any point, push the sunroof switch in any direction.
-
The sunroof glass stops halfway at the first detent position before it is fully opened. To fully open the sunroof glass, push the sunroof switch rearward once more. The sunroof glass will open only while the switch is pushed.
NOTICE
To reduce wind noise while driving the Kia Seltos, use the recommended opening position at the first detent before the maximum slide-open position. This position can provide ventilation while helping maintain a quieter cabin.
Automatic reversal
If the Kia Seltos sunroof glass detects an obstacle while closing automatically, it will reverse direction and then stop at a certain position. This automatic reversal function is designed to help reduce the risk of injury or damage during sunroof operation.
The auto reverse function may not operate correctly if a very thin, soft, or small object is caught between the sliding sunroof glass and the sunroof sash. Always check the sunroof opening before closing it.
WARNING
-
Before operating the sunroof, make sure heads, hands, arms, and other body parts or objects are safely away from the opening. Body parts or items may become caught, causing injury or damage to the Kia Seltos.
-
Never deliberately use your body, hand, or any object to test the automatic reversal function. The sunroof glass may reverse direction, but injury can still occur.
NOTICE
-
Do not continue pressing the sunroof switch after the sunroof is fully opened, closed, or tilted. This may damage the sunroof motor.
-
Repeated continuous operation, such as slide open/close or tilt open/close, may cause the sunroof motor or related system components to malfunction.
-
Regularly remove accumulated dust and debris from the Kia Seltos sunroof rail.
-
Dust trapped between the sunroof and roof panel may create noise. Open the sunroof and clean the area regularly with a soft, clean cloth.
-
Do not try to open the sunroof when the temperature is below freezing or when the sunroof is covered with snow or ice. Forcing it open may damage the sunroof mechanism.
-
Do not open the sunroof or drive with the sunroof glass open immediately after rain or after washing the Kia Seltos. Water may enter the cabin and wet the interior.
-
Do not extend luggage or other objects outside through the sunroof while driving. Vehicle damage may occur if the Kia Seltos stops suddenly.
WARNING
Do not extend your head, arms, body parts, or objects outside the sunroof while driving. Serious injuries may occur if the vehicle stops suddenly or if an outside object contacts the occupant.
Resetting the sunroof
In some situations, the Kia Seltos sunroof system may need to be reset so that normal operation and one-touch functions work correctly. Resetting may be required after electrical power has been interrupted or after certain sunroof components have been serviced.
Some examples of when sunroof resetting may be required include:
-
When the 12-volt battery has been disconnected or discharged.
-
When the sunroof fuse has been replaced.
-
When the sunroof one-touch AUTO OPEN/CLOSE function does not operate properly.
Sunroof resetting procedure:
-
It is recommended to perform the reset procedure with the engine running. Start the Kia Seltos and keep the shift lever in P (Park).
-
Make sure the sunroof glass is fully closed. If the sunroof glass is open, push the switch forward until the sunroof glass closes completely.
-
Release the switch once the sunroof glass is fully closed.
-
Push the switch forward until the sunroof glass moves slightly, then release the switch.
-
Push and hold the sunroof switch forward again until the sunroof glass slides open and then closes. Do not release the switch until the entire operation is completed. If the switch is released during the procedure, restart from step 2.
NOTICE
If the Kia Seltos sunroof is not reset after the vehicle battery has been disconnected or discharged, or after the sunroof fuse has blown, the sunroof may not operate normally. Complete the reset procedure before using the sunroof regularly.
Sunroof open warning
If the driver turns off the engine while the Kia Seltos sunroof is not fully closed, a warning chime will sound for several seconds and a sunroof open warning message will appear on the cluster LCD display. This reminder helps prevent the vehicle from being left exposed to weather or unauthorized access.
Always close the sunroof securely before leaving your Kia Seltos unattended.
CAUTION
Make sure the sunroof is fully closed when exiting the Kia Seltos. If the sunroof is left open, rain or snow may enter the cabin and damage the interior. Leaving the sunroof open while the vehicle is unattended may also increase the risk of theft.
