Kia Seltos: Immobilizer system / Smart key immobilizer system

Contents:

The Kia Seltos smart key immobilizer system helps protect the vehicle from theft. If an incorrectly coded key or an unauthorized electronic device is used, the vehicle's power system may be disabled and the engine may not start.

When the ENGINE START/STOP button is placed in the ON position, the immobilizer system indicator should illuminate briefly and then turn off. If the indicator begins to blink, the Kia Seltos immobilizer system does not recognize the coding of the smart key.

Place the ENGINE START/STOP button in the OFF position, and then place it in the ON position again. This may allow the system to check the smart key signal once more.

If the system repeatedly fails to recognize the coding of the key, contact an authorized Kia dealer for inspection and service.

Do not alter this system or add unauthorized devices to it. Electrical problems may occur and could make your Kia Seltos inoperable.

If the following objects are placed near the ENGINE START/STOP button, the engine may be difficult to start or may not start properly:

  1. Metal accessories

  2. Another registered key

  3. Keys registered to other vehicles

  4. Electronic devices
