Kia Seltos: Immobilizer system / Folding key immobilizer system

Contents:

Your Kia Seltos may be equipped with an electronic engine immobilizer system designed to help reduce the risk of unauthorized vehicle use.

The immobilizer system consists of a small transponder built into the ignition key and electronic control components installed inside the vehicle.

When you insert the ignition key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position, the Kia Seltos immobilizer system checks the key and verifies whether it is valid for the vehicle.

If the key is recognized as valid, the engine can be started normally.

If the key is not recognized as valid, the engine will not start.

To deactivate the immobilizer system:

Insert the ignition key into the key cylinder and turn it to the ON position. The system will confirm the key information and allow the Kia Seltos engine to start if the key is valid.

To activate the immobilizer system:

Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. The immobilizer system activates automatically. Without a valid ignition key for your Kia Seltos, the engine will not start.

Your immobilizer password is unique to you and should be kept confidential. Do not leave this number anywhere inside the vehicle.

Kia Seltos SP2 (2021-2026) Owner's Manual: Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system

The Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system in the Kia Seltos helps reduce fuel consumption by automatically turning off the engine when the vehicle is stopped, such as at a red light, stop sign, or in heavy traffic. The engine restarts automatically as soon as the required starting conditions are met, allowing the driver to continue smoothly without using the ignition switch or ENGINE START/STOP button manually.

WARNING All Wheel Drive Driving conditions that require All Wheel Drive place greater stress on the Kia Seltos than normal paved-road driving. When traveling on rough, slippery, muddy, snowy, or uneven surfaces, reduce your speed and be prepared for sudden changes in traction under the tires. If you are unsure whether the conditions are safe, stop the vehicle in a secure location and carefully decide the best way to continue.
