Your Kia Seltos may be equipped with an electronic engine immobilizer system designed to help reduce the risk of unauthorized vehicle use.
The immobilizer system consists of a small transponder built into the ignition key and electronic control components installed inside the vehicle.
When you insert the ignition key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position, the Kia Seltos immobilizer system checks the key and verifies whether it is valid for the vehicle.
If the key is recognized as valid, the engine can be started normally.
If the key is not recognized as valid, the engine will not start.
To deactivate the immobilizer system:
Insert the ignition key into the key cylinder and turn it to the ON position. The system will confirm the key information and allow the Kia Seltos engine to start if the key is valid.
To activate the immobilizer system:
Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. The immobilizer system activates automatically. Without a valid ignition key for your Kia Seltos, the engine will not start.
Your immobilizer password is unique to you and should be kept confidential. Do not leave this number anywhere inside the vehicle.
NOTICE
Keep each key separately to help avoid a starting malfunction. Storing keys too close together may interfere with the transponder signal.
NOTICE
To help prevent theft of your Kia Seltos, do not leave spare keys anywhere inside the vehicle. Your immobilizer password is a customer-unique password and must be kept confidential. Never store this number in the vehicle.
Do not place metal accessories near the ignition switch.
Metal accessories may interrupt the transponder signal and prevent the engine from starting.
If you need additional keys or if you lose your keys, consult an authorized Kia dealer.
CAUTION
Immobilizer damage
Do not expose the immobilizer system to moisture, static electricity, impact, or rough handling. These conditions may damage the system and cause starting problems in your Kia Seltos.
CAUTION
Immobilizer alterations
Do not alter, adjust, or modify the immobilizer system. Unauthorized changes may cause the Kia Seltos immobilizer system to malfunction and may affect normal engine starting.
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules.
