The liftgate should always remain completely closed while the Kia Seltos is moving. If it is left open or even slightly ajar, poisonous exhaust gases may enter the vehicle and cause serious illness or death.
Opening the liftgate in emergency
The Kia Seltos is equipped with an emergency liftgate safety release lever located at the bottom of the liftgate. This feature is intended for situations where someone is accidentally locked in the luggage compartment.
The liftgate can be opened in an emergency by following these steps:
-
Insert the mechanical key into the hole.
-
Push the mechanical key to the right (1).
-
Push the liftgate upward.
WARNING
-
No one should ever ride in the cargo area of the Kia Seltos. The cargo area is extremely dangerous in the event of a collision.

CAUTION
Make sure there are no people or objects around the liftgate before opening or closing it. Wait until the liftgate is fully open and stopped before loading or unloading cargo from the Kia Seltos.
