Good driving practices

  • Never move the shift lever from P (Park) or N (Neutral) to any other position while pressing the accelerator pedal.

  • Never move the shift lever into P (Park) while the vehicle is moving.

  • Make sure the Kia Seltos is completely stopped before shifting into R (Reverse) or D (Drive).

  • Never shift the vehicle out of gear and coast down a hill. This can be extremely dangerous. Always keep the transmission in gear while the vehicle is moving.

  • Do not "ride" the brakes. Continuous brake use can cause overheating and reduce braking performance. When driving down a long hill, slow down and shift to a lower gear so engine braking can help control vehicle speed.

  • Slow down before shifting to a lower gear. If vehicle speed is too high, the lower gear may not engage properly.

  • Always use the parking brake when parking. Do not rely only on placing the transmission in P (Park) to keep the Kia Seltos from moving.

  • Use extreme caution on slippery surfaces. Be especially careful when braking, accelerating, or shifting gears. On ice, snow, rain, or loose gravel, a sudden change in vehicle speed can cause the drive wheels to lose traction and may lead to loss of control.

  • The best vehicle performance and fuel economy are achieved by pressing and releasing the accelerator pedal smoothly.

Kia Seltos good driving practices and safety warning

WARNING

  • When driving uphill or downhill, always shift to D (Drive) for forward driving or R (Reverse) for backing up. Check the gear position shown on the cluster before moving the vehicle.

Driving in the opposite direction of the selected gear may create a dangerous situation by shutting off the engine and affecting braking performance.

  • Always buckle up. In a collision, an unbelted occupant is significantly more likely to be seriously injured or killed than an occupant wearing a seat belt correctly.

  • Avoid high speeds when cornering or turning.

  • Do not make sudden steering movements, such as sharp lane changes or fast, aggressive turns.

  • The risk of rollover increases greatly if control of the Kia Seltos is lost at highway speeds.

  • Loss of control often occurs when two or more wheels leave the roadway and the driver overcorrects while trying to return to the lane.

  • If your Kia Seltos leaves the roadway, do not steer sharply. Slow down first, then carefully guide the vehicle back into the travel lanes.

  • Never exceed posted speed limits. Adjust your speed for weather, traffic, road surface, and visibility conditions.

Kia Seltos warning about rocking vehicle free from snow mud or sand

WARNING

If your Kia Seltos becomes stuck in snow, mud, sand, or a similar surface, you may try to rock the vehicle free by moving it forward and backward. Do not attempt this procedure if people, animals, or objects are near the vehicle. During rocking, the vehicle may suddenly move forward or backward when it becomes unstuck, which could cause injury or damage.

The Kia Seltos storage compartments are designed for small items needed by the driver or passengers. They help keep the cabin organized and reduce loose objects while driving. To reduce the risk of theft, do not leave valuables in the storage compartments. Always keep storage compartment covers closed while driving. Do not place too many items inside a compartment, so the cover can close securely.
