TIP

  • To exit full automatic operation, manually engage the mode selection, A/C, front windshield defroster, or fan speed control. Pressing these overrides the specific function while leaving others in automatic mode. Note: Pressing the front defroster icon twice will toggle it off and restore the AUTO function.

  • For the most effective climate regulation in your Kia K4, we recommend pressing the AUTO icon and setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C).

Air conditioning (A/C) automatic drying

The Kia K4 features an A/C automatic drying function, which helps remove residual moisture from the system to reduce the potential for A/C-related odors. The blower motor will automatically engage for a short period, 30 minutes after the vehicle has been turned off, to ensure the evaporator core is dry.

Turning A/C automatic drying on or off

You can configure this feature through the Kia K4 infotainment system by navigating to: Settings > Climate > Climate Features > A/C Automatic Drying. When active, the system automatically adjusts the fan to the third speed level and switches the intake to the outside (fresh) air position to facilitate drying.

TIP

Please be aware that the infotainment interface may evolve due to future software updates. For the most accurate details, always refer to the digital user's manual integrated within your Kia K4 infotainment system and the provided quick reference guide.

Operating conditions

The A/C automatic drying feature will trigger under the following conditions:

  • The vehicle was turned off after the air conditioning was used for an extended period.

  • The 12V battery charge level is sufficient to support the operation.

  • The ambient outside temperature is above the required threshold.

Non-operating conditions

The automatic drying process will stop or will not initiate if:

  • The drying cycle has reached the 10-minute operation limit.

  • The ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed, or the vehicle's ignition is switched to the ON position.

  • The Kia K4 climate control system is being operated via a remote start feature.

NOTE

  • While the A/C automatic drying feature is highly effective at reducing moisture-based odors, it may not eliminate all types of odors within the system.

  • To protect the longevity of your battery, this feature will be automatically bypassed if the Kia K4 detects that the 12V battery level is insufficient.

Recirculate air

The Kia K4 is equipped with an intelligent climate system that automatically toggles the air conditioning to internal air circulation mode. By leveraging real-time navigation map data and vehicle speed, your Kia K4 effectively prevents polluted air, exhaust fumes, or strong odors from entering the cabin, particularly when driving through tunnels or highly congested areas.

To configure these preferences, navigate to Settings > Vehicle > Climate > Recirculate Air on your Kia K4 infotainment system screen.

  • Activate upon Washer Fluid Use: This setting proactively prevents the sharp odor of washer fluid from being drawn into the Kia K4 cabin.

  • Activate upon Entering Tunnels: Upon detecting that you are entering a tunnel, the system automatically closes the windows and activates internal air circulation to maintain optimal air quality.

Operating condition(s)

  • The system is active when driving at highway or motorway speeds.

  • The feature functions when the Kia K4 air conditioning system is currently set to fresh air intake mode.

CAUTION

Always exercise caution and ensure that no passengers have body parts near the window openings when the automatic window closing function is triggered in your Kia K4.

Recirculating air when washer fluid is used

To enhance your comfort, the Kia K4 can automatically switch to recirculation mode whenever the windshield washer is activated, effectively blocking the entry of washer fluid scent into the cabin.

With the vehicle ignition in the ON position, access this feature by selecting Settings > Vehicle > Climate > Climate Features > Activation on Washer Fluid Use on the infotainment display.

  • Activation on Washer Fluid Use: Once enabled, the Kia K4 air conditioning system will temporarily switch to recirculation mode the moment you spray washer fluid, ensuring the cabin air remains clean and scent-free.

When you pull the wiper lever toward you to spray the windshield, a confirmation message will briefly appear on your Kia K4 infotainment display.

NOTE

Please note that during low-temperature weather, high humidity may cause moisture to accumulate on the glass while in recirculation mode. Should this occur, simply touch the front-windshield defroster icon on your Kia K4 climate panel to quickly clear the moisture.
