The Kia EV6 windshield wiper and washer systems help remove rain, snow, dirt, dust, and other foreign materials from the windshield and rear window to maintain clear visibility while driving.

The Kia EV6 wiper system is designed to improve driver visibility and overall driving safety during changing weather conditions.

Windshield washers

The Kia EV6 windshield wiper and washer system operates as follows when the EV button is in the POWER ON position.

MIST: For a single wipe cycle, move the lever to the MIST position and release it. The Kia EV6 wipers continue operating continuously while the lever is held in this position.

OFF: Windshield wipers are turned off.

LO: Normal windshield wiping speed.

HI: High-speed windshield wiping operation.

The Kia EV6 washer system sprays washer fluid onto the windshield while automatically activating the wipers for improved cleaning performance.

CAUTION

If snow or ice has accumulated heavily on the Kia EV6 windshield, defrost the windshield for approximately 10 minutes, or until all snow and ice are completely removed, before operating the windshield wipers.

Using the Kia EV6 windshield wipers without removing ice or snow first may damage the wiper blades, washer system, or windshield wiper motor.

AUTO control

Kia EV6 automatic rain sensing windshield wiper control and sensor system

The rain sensor (1), positioned at the upper section of the Kia EV6 windshield, automatically detects rainfall intensity and adjusts the windshield wiper operating speed accordingly.

As rainfall becomes heavier, the Kia EV6 windshield wipers automatically increase wiping frequency and speed. When rain stops or becomes lighter, the wiper system reduces operation or stops automatically.

The intelligent AUTO wiping system of the Kia EV6 is designed to improve driver visibility and convenience during changing weather conditions.

To manually adjust the sensitivity or wiping interval, rotate the Kia EV6 wiper speed adjustment knob.

If the windshield wiper switch is placed in the AUTO mode while the EV button is in the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position, the Kia EV6 wipers perform a single automatic wipe cycle as part of the system self-check operation.

When the windshield wipers are not required, always return the Kia EV6 wiper switch to the OFF position.

CAUTION

When the EV button is in the POWER ON or DRIVE READY position and the Kia EV6 windshield wiper switch remains in the AUTO mode, use extreme caution in the following situations to prevent possible injury to hands or other body parts:

  • Do not touch the upper windshield area near the Kia EV6 rain sensor.

  • Do not clean or wipe the upper windshield area using a wet or damp cloth.

  • Do not apply excessive pressure to the Kia EV6 windshield glass near the rain sensor location.

CAUTION

  • When washing the Kia EV6, move the windshield wiper switch to the OFF position to prevent unexpected automatic wiper operation.

    If the switch remains in the AUTO mode during vehicle washing, the wipers may activate unexpectedly and could become damaged.

  • Do not remove the rain sensor cover located at the upper passenger-side area of the Kia EV6 windshield. Damage to system components caused by improper removal may not be covered under warranty.

  • When starting the Kia EV6 during winter conditions, always place the wiper switch in the OFF position first. Otherwise, the wipers may activate automatically and frozen ice could damage the wiper blades or wiper arms.

    Always remove snow and ice completely and defrost the Kia EV6 windshield thoroughly before using the windshield wipers.

  • When applying tint film to the Kia EV6 windshield, prevent any tinting fluid or chemical solution from entering the rain sensor area located near the upper center of the windshield. Moisture or chemicals may damage related electronic components.

Operating windshield washer

Use the Kia EV6 windshield washer system whenever the windshield becomes dirty or visibility is reduced by dust, insects, mud, rain residue, or road debris.

  1. Move the Kia EV6 windshield wiper speed control switch to the OFF position.

  2. Pull the wiper control lever gently toward you to spray washer fluid onto the windshield and automatically activate the wipers for approximately 1–3 wipe cycles.

    The washer spray and Kia EV6 wiper operation continue as long as the lever remains pulled toward the driver.

If the Kia EV6 windshield washer system does not operate correctly, inspect the washer fluid level inside the washer reservoir.

If the washer fluid level is low, refill the Kia EV6 washer reservoir using an appropriate non-abrasive windshield washer solution.

The washer fluid filler neck of the Kia EV6 is located inside the front motor compartment on the passenger side.

The Kia EV6 washer system is designed to help maintain clear windshield visibility during adverse weather and road conditions.

CAUTION

Washer Pump

To help prevent possible damage to the Kia EV6 washer pump, never operate the windshield washer system when the washer fluid reservoir is empty.

WARNING

Obscured Visibility

Do not use the Kia EV6 windshield washer system during freezing temperatures before warming the windshield using the defroster system.

Washer fluid may freeze on the windshield surface and significantly reduce driver visibility, increasing the risk of an accident.

CAUTION

Wipers & Windshields

  • To prevent possible damage to the Kia EV6 windshield or wiper blades, never operate the windshield wipers on dry glass.

  • Do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint thinner, or other chemical solvents on or near the Kia EV6 wiper blades, as these substances may damage the rubber components.

  • To help prevent damage to the Kia EV6 wiper arms, motor, or linkage system, do not attempt to move the windshield wipers manually.
