Tire Pressure Indicator

  • You can view current tire pressure information through the Assistance Mode screen on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster.

    • For additional details, refer to the LCD display modes section of the Kia EV6 owner's manual.

  • Tire-pressure values may take several minutes to update after driving begins.

  • If tire-pressure information is unavailable while the Kia EV6 is stationary, a message requesting the vehicle to be driven may appear. Drive the vehicle and then recheck the displayed pressure values.

  • You can select the preferred tire-pressure measurement unit through the infotainment system setup menu.

    • Available units: psi, kPa, and bar.

  • Regular monitoring of tire pressure helps maximize driving range, improve handling, and reduce uneven tire wear on the Kia EV6.

NOTE

  • Tire pressure may vary because of ambient temperature, parking conditions, vehicle loading, altitude changes, and driving style.

  • A low tire pressure warning may occasionally activate even when a tire displays a pressure value similar to nearby tires. This may occur because tire temperature and pressure fluctuate during operation.

  • The tire pressure shown on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster may differ slightly from readings obtained using a separate tire-pressure gauge.

  • For the most accurate measurements, check tire pressure when the tires are cold and compare the values with the specifications provided for your Kia EV6 model.

Effective Use of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

For optimum safety, tire longevity, and driving efficiency, every tire on the Kia EV6, including the spare tire (if equipped), should be inspected at least once a month while cold and inflated to the pressure specified on the vehicle placard or tire inflation label provided by Kia.

If your Kia EV6 is equipped with tires that differ from the sizes listed on the vehicle placard or tire pressure label, always determine and apply the correct inflation pressure recommended for those specific tires.

As an additional safety feature, the Kia EV6 is equipped with an advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). This system continuously monitors tire pressure and illuminates a low tire pressure warning indicator whenever one or more tires become significantly underinflated.

Whenever the low tire pressure warning indicator appears, stop the Kia EV6 as soon as it is safe to do so and inspect all tires immediately. Inflate any underinflated tire to the recommended pressure. Driving with substantially low tire pressure can cause excessive heat buildup inside the tire, which may result in premature tire wear, tire failure, reduced efficiency, and compromised vehicle stability.

Improper tire inflation can also negatively affect the driving range of the Kia EV6, accelerate tread wear, reduce handling precision, and increase stopping distances during emergency braking situations.

Please remember that the TPMS is intended as a supplemental monitoring system and does not replace routine tire maintenance. The driver remains responsible for checking tire pressure regularly and maintaining proper inflation levels, even when the TPMS warning indicator has not been activated.

The Kia EV6 is also equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator designed to alert the driver when the monitoring system is not operating correctly. This malfunction indicator shares the same warning symbol as the low tire pressure indicator.

When a malfunction is detected, the warning light will typically flash for approximately one minute and then remain continuously illuminated. This sequence will repeat each time the Kia EV6 is started until the issue has been corrected.

When the TPMS malfunction indicator remains illuminated, the system may be unable to accurately detect or report low tire pressure conditions. TPMS malfunctions can occur for several reasons, including the installation of non-approved wheels, replacement tires, aftermarket components, or other modifications that interfere with normal TPMS operation.

After replacing tires or wheels on the Kia EV6, always verify that the TPMS continues functioning correctly and that no malfunction indicators remain illuminated. Proper TPMS operation is essential for maintaining tire safety and maximizing overall vehicle performance.

NOTE

If any of the following situations occur, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer or qualified service center:

  1. The Low Tire Pressure / TPMS Malfunction Indicator does not illuminate for approximately 3 seconds when the EV button is placed in the DRIVE READY or POWER ON position, or when the vehicle enters the READY operating state.

  2. The TPMS Malfunction Indicator continues to remain illuminated after flashing for approximately one minute.

  3. The Low Tire Pressure warning display remains visible on the LCD instrument cluster.

TPMS Malfunction Indicator

If a malfunction occurs within the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) of the Kia EV6, the low tire pressure warning indicator will typically flash for approximately one minute and then remain continuously illuminated. This warning sequence indicates that the system has detected a fault and may not be able to monitor tire pressure accurately.

In some situations, the Kia EV6 can detect both a TPMS malfunction and a low tire pressure condition simultaneously. When this occurs, the TPMS malfunction indicator and the low tire pressure position warning indicators may appear together on the instrument cluster.

For example, if the Front Left TPMS sensor experiences a malfunction while another tire, such as the Front Right, Rear Left, or Rear Right tire, is underinflated, both the TPMS malfunction warning and the low tire pressure location indicator may be displayed at the same time.

If any TPMS-related warning remains active, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible to identify and correct the underlying issue.

  • The TPMS malfunction indicator may appear when the Kia EV6 is operated near high-voltage electrical infrastructure or powerful radio-frequency sources, including police stations, government facilities, broadcasting centers, military installations, airports, communication towers, or similar transmission equipment. Electromagnetic interference from these sources may temporarily affect TPMS operation.

  • The TPMS malfunction indicator may also illuminate when snow chains are installed or when certain electronic devices are being used inside the Kia EV6, such as laptop computers, mobile charging equipment, aftermarket remote starters, navigation systems, or other wireless devices that may interfere with TPMS communication signals.

  • In most cases, the warning indicator will disappear automatically once the source of interference is removed and normal TPMS communication is restored.

Tire Replacement with TPMS

If a tire becomes flat, the low tire pressure warning indicator will illuminate on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster. Have the damaged tire repaired by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible or replace it with the spare tire if equipped.

CAUTION

Repair Agents

Never use a puncture repair product, sealant, or tire-repair compound that has not been approved by Kia. Unapproved repair materials may damage the TPMS sensor installed inside the tire and affect the ability of the Kia EV6 to monitor tire pressure accurately.

Each wheel of the Kia EV6 contains an individual tire pressure sensor mounted inside the tire assembly directly behind the valve stem. Because of this design, only TPMS-compatible wheels and components should be used when replacing tires or wheels.

Kia recommends having all tire and wheel service performed by an authorized Kia dealer or qualified tire specialist familiar with TPMS-equipped vehicles.

Even after replacing a low-pressure tire with a spare tire, the low tire pressure warning light may remain illuminated until the original tire has been repaired, reinstalled, or replaced.

After a spare tire is installed, the TPMS malfunction indicator may appear after several minutes of driving because the TPMS sensor associated with the spare wheel may not yet be initialized or recognized by the Kia EV6 monitoring system.

Once the repaired or replacement tire has been inflated to the correct pressure and installed on the vehicle, or once the TPMS sensor has been properly initialized by an authorized Kia dealer, the TPMS malfunction indicator and low tire pressure warning light should switch off automatically after a short driving period.

If either warning light remains illuminated after several minutes of driving, have the Kia EV6 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

When an original wheel assembly is replaced by a spare wheel, the TPMS sensor associated with the spare wheel must be activated and registered correctly, while the TPMS sensor from the removed wheel should be deactivated if required.

If the original TPMS sensor remains active while stored in the spare-tire carrier, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System of the Kia EV6 may not function correctly. Proper sensor registration is essential for accurate tire-pressure monitoring.

Visual inspection alone is not a reliable method of determining whether a tire is underinflated. Always use a high-quality tire pressure gauge to verify tire pressure accurately.

Keep in mind that a tire that has recently been driven will normally display a higher pressure reading than a cold tire because heat generated during driving increases internal tire pressure.

Before checking tire pressure, allow the tire to cool completely. For the most accurate reading, measure tire pressure only when the tire is cold.

A cold tire is generally defined as a tire on a Kia EV6 that has remained parked for at least three hours and has been driven less than 1 mile (1.6 km) during that time period.

Never use liquid tire sealants or emergency tire-inflation compounds in a Kia EV6 equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System unless specifically approved by Kia. Liquid sealants may contaminate or permanently damage the TPMS sensors located inside the tires.

  • The TPMS installed in the Kia EV6 cannot warn the driver about sudden or catastrophic tire damage caused by external hazards such as nails, screws, sharp objects, potholes, or road debris.

  • If you experience unusual vehicle behavior, vibration, instability, steering pull, or any indication of tire failure, immediately remove your foot from the accelerator pedal, apply the brakes gradually, and carefully move the Kia EV6 to a safe location away from traffic.

  • Routine tire inspections remain an important part of vehicle maintenance, even when TPMS is operating normally.

NOTE

Protecting TPMS

Tampering with, modifying, disabling, or attempting to bypass any component of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) may reduce the system's ability to provide accurate low-pressure warnings and malfunction notifications.

Unauthorized modifications to TPMS components installed on the Kia EV6 may also affect warranty coverage related to those parts and could result in improper system operation.

For maximum reliability and safety, only genuine Kia-approved TPMS components should be used when servicing the Kia EV6 tire monitoring system.

Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Following distance

When towing a trailer with the Kia EV6, always maintain at least twice the normal following distance compared to driving without a trailer attached. The added trailer weight increases stopping distance and reduces braking responsiveness, especially during wet weather, downhill driving, or emergency braking situations. Maintaining additional space between the Kia EV6 and the vehicle ahead helps reduce the likelihood of sudden braking, abrupt steering corrections, or emergency maneuvers that could destabilize the trailer.
