Kia EV6: Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) / Low tire pressure indicator light

Contents:

Low tire pressure position indicator light

When the Tire Pressure Monitoring System warning indicators appear on the instrument cluster, one or more tires on the Kia EV6 are significantly below the recommended inflation pressure.

If the warning indicator illuminates, immediately reduce the speed of the Kia EV6 and avoid sudden steering inputs, aggressive cornering, or harsh braking. Because tire performance may be compromised, increased stopping distances and reduced vehicle stability should be expected.

Stop the Kia EV6 at the earliest safe opportunity and inspect all tires carefully.

Inflate the affected tire or tires to the pressure specified on the vehicle placard or tire inflation label located on the driver's side center pillar. If a service facility is unavailable or the tire cannot maintain the correct pressure after inflation, replace the affected tire with the spare tire if equipped.

After restarting the Kia EV6 and driving continuously for approximately 20 minutes, the TPMS malfunction indicator and Low Tire Pressure warning light may remain illuminated until the affected tire has been properly repaired or replaced.

During winter months or in cold-weather conditions, the Low Tire Pressure warning indicator may illuminate even when the tires were adjusted to the recommended pressure in warmer temperatures. This does not necessarily indicate a malfunction of the TPMS. Tire pressure naturally decreases as ambient temperature drops.

Whenever the Kia EV6 is driven from a warm climate into a colder environment, or from a cold region into a warmer one, tire pressure should be checked and adjusted according to the recommended specifications.

Likewise, significant seasonal temperature changes can affect tire pressure readings and may require additional tire maintenance.

When adding air to a tire, the Low Tire Pressure warning indicator may not switch off immediately. This is normal and occurs because the TPMS requires the tire pressure to exceed its internal threshold before the warning can be cleared.

Once the tire pressure rises above the recommended minimum operating level and the system confirms normal conditions, the warning indicator will automatically turn off.

Regular tire-pressure inspections help maximize tire life, improve vehicle handling, increase efficiency, and optimize the electric driving range of the Kia EV6.

WARNING

Low Pressure Damage

Never continue driving the Kia EV6 with severely underinflated tires. Excessively low tire pressure can cause excessive heat buildup, tire failure, tread separation, loss of vehicle stability, longer braking distances, and reduced steering control.

Failure to maintain proper tire pressure may significantly increase the risk of an accident, serious injury, or vehicle damage.

Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Ready indicator light (READY)

This indicator appears under the following conditions: When the Kia EV6 is fully powered on and ready to be driven. On: The Kia EV6 is operating normally and driving is possible. Off: The Kia EV6 is not ready for normal driving operation or a system-related issue has occurred. Blinking: Emergency driving operation may still be possible under limited conditions.

Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Power liftgate: (if equipped)

Power liftgate operating conditions The Kia EV6 power liftgate system operates when the vehicle is in P (Park) while running. When the vehicle is turned off, the power liftgate can still operate regardless of gear position. For safety reasons, the liftgate only opens when vehicle speed remains below 1.8 mph (3 km/h). Before using the Kia EV6 power liftgate, always confirm that the vehicle is securely shifted into P (Park).
