When the airbags in the Kia EV6 deploy, a loud noise will be heard and smoke or powder may appear inside the cabin. This is a normal result of the airbag inflator operation and does not indicate a fire.
Following deployment, occupants may experience temporary breathing discomfort caused by the force of the seat belt, airbag deployment, and exposure to the harmless smoke and powder released during inflation.
Although the smoke and powder generated by the Kia EV6 airbag system are non-toxic, they may still irritate the skin, eyes, nose, or throat. If irritation occurs, rinse the affected areas immediately with cold water and seek medical attention if symptoms continue.

Never install a rear-facing child restraint system in the front passenger seat of the Kia EV6.
If the front passenger airbag deploys, it can strike the rear-facing child seat with extreme force, potentially resulting in severe or fatal injuries to the child.
Front-facing child restraint systems should also not be installed in the front passenger seat whenever possible. If the front passenger airbag inflates, it may seriously injure or kill a child seated in a front-mounted CRS.
The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) in the Kia EV6 is composed of multiple advanced safety components, sensors, and electronic control modules designed to work together in order to provide additional occupant protection during collisions.
|
The actual locations of the SRS components in the Kia EV6 may vary slightly depending on vehicle configuration and equipment level.
The SRS system in the Kia EV6 includes the following major components:
Driver’s front air bag module
Passenger’s front air bag module
Front side air bag modules
Curtain air bag modules
Retractor pre-tensioner assemblies
Air bag warning light
SRS control module (SRSCM)/rollover sensor
Front impact sensors
Side impact sensors
Side pressure sensors
Driver’s knee air bag module
Occupant detection system (Front passenger’s seat only)
Front driver’s/passenger’s seat belt buckle sensor
Rear retractor pre-tensioner assemblies
Rear side air bag modules
|
In the Kia EV6, the front airbag modules are positioned in the center of the steering wheel and within the front passenger dashboard panel above the glove compartment. When the SRS control module (SRSCM) detects a sufficiently severe frontal collision, it automatically activates the appropriate front airbags to help reduce occupant injuries.
|
During airbag deployment, specially designed tear seams integrated into the Kia EV6 airbag covers separate under pressure, allowing the airbags to inflate rapidly and efficiently.
|
A fully inflated airbag, combined with a properly fastened seat belt, helps slow the forward movement of the driver or passenger during a collision, reducing the possibility of head, chest, and upper body injuries. After deployment, the airbags in the Kia EV6 begin deflating immediately to restore visibility and allow the driver to maintain control of the vehicle whenever possible.
|
Your Kia EV6 is equipped with an advanced Occupant Detection System (ODS) integrated into the front passenger seat to enhance airbag safety and passenger protection.
|
The Occupant Detection System in the Kia EV6 monitors the presence and seating position of the front passenger to determine whether the front passenger airbag should remain activated or be temporarily deactivated. The ODS system controls only the front passenger airbag and helps improve safety for smaller occupants and child restraint systems.

Kia EV6 2022-2026 Owner's Manual: Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) continuously monitors the air pressure of the Kia EV6 tires and displays relevant information on the instrument cluster LCD display to help improve safety, tire life, and vehicle efficiency. Low tire pressure warning indicator / TPMS malfunction indicator Low tire pressure position indicator displayed on the Kia EV6 LCD instrument cluster Tire Pressure Indicator You can view current tire pressure information through the Assistance Mode screen on the Kia EV6 instrument cluster. The active air flap system in the Kia EV6 automatically controls the airflow openings located beneath the front bumper in order to cool key vehicle components and improve aerodynamic efficiency and electric driving range. By adjusting airflow dynamically according to driving conditions, battery temperature, and cooling requirements, the Kia EV6 active air flap system helps optimize overall energy efficiency and thermal management.
