The hood of the Kia EV6 provides access to the motor compartment and front storage area while protecting essential vehicle components from external elements.
Pull the hood release lever located inside the Kia EV6 cabin to release the primary latch. The hood will rise slightly.

NOTE
Before opening the Kia EV6 hood, park the vehicle on a flat surface, switch the EV button off, shift to P (Park), and apply the parking brake.
Move to the front of the Kia EV6, lift the hood slightly, push the secondary hood release lever (1) upward, and then raise the hood fully (2).

Before closing the Kia EV6 hood, inspect the motor compartment carefully:
Ensure that all caps and covers are securely installed.
Remove gloves, towels, cleaning cloths, and any combustible materials from the compartment.
Lower the hood to approximately halfway and then press down firmly until it locks securely into position.
Always confirm that the Kia EV6 hood is completely latched before driving.
If the hood can still be lifted with slight pressure, reopen it and close it again more firmly.
WARNING
Hood Obstruction
Before closing the Kia EV6 hood, verify that there are no objects or obstructions near the hood opening. Attempting to close the hood with objects present may result in injury or vehicle damage.
WARNING
Fire Risk
Do not leave gloves, cloths, paper, or other flammable materials inside the Kia EV6 motor compartment, as heat accumulation could create a fire hazard.
WARNING
Unsecured Hood
Always make sure the Kia EV6 hood is fully locked before driving. An unsecured hood could suddenly open while driving, blocking visibility and increasing the risk of an accident.
If the Kia EV6 hood is not completely closed, a warning message will appear on the LCD instrument display.

The Kia EV6 warning chime will also sound if the vehicle is driven above 2 mph (3 km/h) while the hood remains open.
