When the front door of the Kia EV6 is locked, pulling the interior door handle automatically unlocks the door and opens it simultaneously.
The interior door handle mechanism is designed to provide fast and convenient exit access while maintaining safety and ease of operation for both the driver and front passenger.
Rear door
If the rear door of the Kia EV6 is locked, pulling the interior rear door handle once unlocks the door. Pulling the handle a second time opens the door completely.
This two-step unlocking process is designed to improve passenger safety and reduce the likelihood of accidental rear door opening while traveling.
NOTE
Door Lock Malfunction
If a power door lock malfunction occurs while you are inside the Kia EV6, try one or more of the following methods to exit the vehicle safely:
Operate both the electronic and manual door unlocking functions repeatedly while simultaneously pulling the interior door handle.
Try using the remaining front and rear door handles and lock switches inside the Kia EV6.
Lower a front side window and use the mechanical key from outside the vehicle if necessary.
WARNING
Do not pull the interior door handle of any Kia EV6 door while the vehicle is moving, as this may lead to accidental door opening and serious injury.

The Kia EV6 central door lock and unlock system can be operated by pressing the lock or unlock buttons located inside the vehicle.
To lock all doors of the Kia EV6, press the central door lock button (1) located on either the driver-side or passenger-side door panel.
To unlock all doors, press the central door unlock button (2) located on the driver-side or passenger-side controls.
When all doors of the Kia EV6 are securely locked, the indicator lights (3) located on both front doors will switch off. If any door remains unlocked, the indicator lights remain illuminated.
If any vehicle door is open, the central locking system will not lock the Kia EV6 even if the lock button is pressed.
The intelligent central locking system of the Kia EV6 improves convenience while helping maintain passenger safety and vehicle security.
WARNING
Doors
The doors of the Kia EV6 should always remain fully closed and locked whenever the vehicle is in motion in order to reduce the risk of accidental opening.
Always check for approaching vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, or pedestrians before opening any Kia EV6 door. Opening a door into the path of traffic or pedestrians may result in serious injury or vehicle damage.
WARNING
Unattended children, the elderly or pets
An enclosed Kia EV6 parked in hot weather can become extremely dangerous due to rapidly rising cabin temperatures. Heat exposure inside the vehicle may cause severe injury, heatstroke, or death to unattended children, elderly individuals, or pets unable to exit the vehicle independently.
Children inside the Kia EV6 may also accidentally operate vehicle systems, including power windows, locks, or electronic controls, potentially causing injury or other dangerous situations. Never leave children or animals unattended inside the vehicle.
|
If the electrical power door lock system of the Kia EV6 becomes inoperative, such as during a discharged 12V battery condition, the doors can only be locked manually using the mechanical emergency key from the exterior lock cylinder.
Doors without an external key cylinder can be locked manually using the following emergency procedure:
Open the affected Kia EV6 door completely.
Insert the mechanical key into the emergency door lock slot and rotate the key to the lock position.
Close the door securely to complete the manual locking operation.
The emergency locking function provides backup security access for the Kia EV6 during electrical failures or battery discharge situations.
WARNING
The doors of the Kia EV6 should always remain securely closed and locked while driving. Unlocked doors increase the possibility of occupants being ejected from the vehicle during an accident.
Never pull the interior door handle of the driver or passenger doors while the Kia EV6 is moving.
WARNING
Do not leave children or animals unattended inside the Kia EV6. Cabin temperatures can increase rapidly and create life-threatening conditions for occupants unable to leave the vehicle independently.
Children may also unintentionally activate vehicle controls, creating additional safety risks.
WARNING
Always secure your Kia EV6 before leaving it unattended. To properly secure the vehicle, keep the brake pedal depressed, shift into the P (Park) position, engage the parking brake, press the EV button to the OFF position, close all windows, lock all doors, and take the smart key with you.
WARNING
Remaining inside a locked Kia EV6 for an extended period during extremely hot or cold weather may create serious health risks or life-threatening conditions. Never lock the vehicle from outside while another person remains inside.
CAUTION
Opening a Kia EV6 door into the path of approaching traffic, bicycles, motorcycles, or pedestrians may cause injury or property damage. Always check surrounding traffic conditions carefully before opening any vehicle door.
NOTE
If the electrical power door lock system of the Kia EV6 does not operate due to battery discharge and the liftgate remains closed, the liftgate cannot be opened until electrical power has been restored.
The Kia EV6 is equipped with multiple automatic door lock and unlock functions that can be customized through the infotainment system settings menu.
These configurable convenience features allow drivers to personalize how the Kia EV6 automatically locks or unlocks the doors during driving, parking, or vehicle startup and shutdown.
For complete details regarding available settings and operation methods, refer to the separately supplied Kia EV6 infotainment system manual.
