Understanding how to properly operate the Kia EV6 door locking system is important for convenience, security, and safe everyday vehicle operation.

The intelligent door lock functions of the Kia EV6 provide multiple methods for locking and unlocking the vehicle while integrating seamlessly with the smart key system.

Operating door unlocks from outside the vehicle

Approach Unlock system

The outside door handles of the Kia EV6 automatically extend outward and the doors unlock when the driver approaches the vehicle while carrying the registered smart key.

The driver can enable or disable the Kia EV6 Approach Unlock system through the infotainment system settings menu.

To activate the Approach Unlock function only for the driver’s door, select Setup > Vehicle > Door > Unlock on Approach or Touch > Unlock Driver’s Door within the infotainment system menu.

To activate full Approach Unlock functionality for all doors, select Setup > Vehicle > Door > Unlock on Approach or Touch within the Kia EV6 infotainment settings.

When the system is activated, the exterior door handles automatically slide outward and the doors unlock as the driver approaches the Kia EV6 carrying the smart key.

If the Approach Unlock feature is disabled, the door handles remain recessed even when the driver approaches the vehicle with the smart key. In this case, touch the lock/unlock sensor located on the engraved section of the exterior door handle to unlock the vehicle manually.

The retractable door handle system used on the Kia EV6 enhances aerodynamic efficiency while also contributing to the vehicle’s futuristic exterior styling and modern convenience features.
