The charging system of the Kia EV6 has been engineered for convenient everyday EV charging and provides quick access to the charging inlet for AC and DC charging operations.
NOTE
Do not leave the vehicle with the charging door open. An open charging door may suggest that the Kia EV6 is unlocked, potentially increasing the risk of theft or tampering.
WARNING
The charging door opens toward the right side. Always check the surrounding area while opening or closing the charging door. Use caution to avoid contact with your head, hands, arms, or other body parts when operating the charging door.
CAUTION
To avoid damage to the charging door assembly and hinge mechanism, do not hold or force the hinge while opening or closing the charging door.
NOTE
The charging door automatically closes under the following conditions:
After disconnecting the charging connector
If the charging door remains open for approximately 2 minutes without connecting the charging cable
When the gear selector is not in P (Park)
After replacing the 12V battery, open and close the charging door to confirm that the charging door automatic opening mechanism is functioning properly on the Kia EV6.
For additional charging information, refer to the Charging door section in the Kia EV6 manual.
NOTE
If the charging door does not open because ice has formed around it, lightly tap or gently press on the charging door to release the ice. If necessary, warm the area with your hands or move the Kia EV6 to a warmer location until the ice melts naturally. Do not use sharp or unauthorized tools to pry open the charging door, as this may cause permanent damage.
If the charging door fails to open because of an electrical malfunction or system issue, contact an authorized Kia dealer for inspection and repair.
Always ensure that the charging door is fully closed before driving the Kia EV6. Driving with the charging door open may damage the charging door mechanism or related components.
After closing the charging door, verify that the charging door warning light has turned off completely.
After charging is complete, fully close the charging inlet cover. If the charging inlet cover is not positioned correctly, the charging door may not close fully or may reopen automatically, which can damage the charging door assembly.
Do not force or pry on the charging door while it is opening automatically. Doing so may interrupt operation and seriously damage the electrical mechanism of the Kia EV6 charging door system.
When washing the vehicle, avoid spraying high-pressure water directly onto the charging door area. Excessive water pressure may damage sensitive electrical and mechanical components.
