Firmly press the brake pedal and engage the parking brake before starting the Kia EV6 charging procedure.
Turn all electrical switches OFF, shift the Kia EV6 into P (Park), and switch the vehicle completely OFF. If charging is initiated while the gear selector is not in P (Park), the vehicle automatically shifts into P before charging begins.
Open the Kia EV6 charging door.
For additional details, refer to the Charging door section of the Kia EV6 manual.
Inspect the charging connector and charging inlet carefully to confirm that no dust, moisture, dirt, or foreign material is present.
Hold the Kia EV6 charging connector by the handle and insert it securely into the charging inlet. Push the connector completely into place until it is fully seated. Improper connection between the charging terminal and charging connector may result in charging interruption, overheating, or fire risk.
For additional information, refer to the Charging status section of the Kia EV6 owner’s manual.
Start charging the Kia EV6. If the charging connector is not fully connected, the connector may vibrate slightly or droop downward. If this occurs, firmly hold the charging connector handle and push the connector fully into the charging inlet again.
Verify that the high-voltage battery charging indicator light (
) on the
Kia
EV6 instrument cluster illuminates properly. Charging is not active when the charging indicator light
(
) remains OFF. If charging does not begin,
disconnect
and reconnect the charging cable securely.

Once charging begins, the Kia EV6 instrument cluster displays the estimated remaining charging time for approximately one minute.
The estimated charging time also appears for approximately one minute whenever the driver-side door is opened during charging. If scheduled charging or scheduled climate control is active, the estimated charging time may display as “--”.

Close the protective caps on both the Kia EV6 charging connector and charging plug to help prevent contamination from dust, moisture, or foreign material.
Close the Kia EV6 charging door completely and ensure it is latched securely.
If using a personal AC charging cable, store the charging connector and cable safely inside the designated cable storage compartment.
NOTE
If the Kia EV6 charging door cannot be opened because of freezing temperatures, lightly tap the surrounding area or carefully remove accumulated ice near the charging door. Never force the charging door open, as damage may occur.
Although charging is technically possible while the EV button is in the START position, Kia recommends charging the Kia EV6 only while the vehicle is switched OFF and shifted into P (Park) for maximum safety. After charging begins, certain electrical features such as the audio system may still be operated by switching the EV button to ACC or ON mode.
Radio reception quality inside the Kia EV6 may temporarily decrease during AC charging.
While charging the Kia EV6, the gear selector cannot be shifted out of P (Park).
The actual charging time for the Kia EV6 may vary depending on battery condition, battery temperature, charger specifications, and ambient environmental conditions.
Charging operation may create electromagnetic interference that can affect radio reception quality in certain locations.
