2. Detect and Alert
|
If you stand within the detection zone located approximately 20–40 inches (50–100 cm) behind the Kia EV6 while carrying the smart key, the hazard warning lights will flash and a warning chime will sound. This indicates that the vehicle has recognized the smart key and the liftgate is preparing to open automatically.
NOTE
If you do not intend to open the Kia EV6 liftgate, avoid entering the detection area behind the vehicle. If the hazard lights begin flashing and the chime sounds unintentionally, simply move away from the detection area with the smart key. The liftgate will remain closed.
3. Automatic Opening
|
After the hazard warning lights blink and the chime sounds 6 times, the Kia EV6 smart liftgate will automatically open.
The hands-free opening function enhances convenience during everyday use and improves accessibility to the rear cargo area.
WARNING
Always make sure the Kia EV6 liftgate is securely closed before driving the vehicle.
Before operating the liftgate, confirm that there are no people, pets, or obstacles near the rear of the vehicle.
When parked on a slope, ensure that cargo items cannot slide out unexpectedly when the liftgate opens, as this could result in injury.
Deactivate the Kia EV6 Smart Liftgate with AUTO Open feature before entering an automatic car wash to prevent accidental liftgate activation.
Keep the smart key away from children. Children playing near the rear of the Kia EV6 could unintentionally activate the liftgate system.
CAUTION
Liftgate Lift
Always close the Kia EV6 liftgate completely before driving. Failure to do so may damage the liftgate gas struts and related hardware components.
If any button on the smart key is pressed during the Detect and Alert phase, the Kia EV6 Smart Liftgate with AUTO Open feature will temporarily deactivate.
Drivers should understand how to deactivate the Smart Liftgate system quickly in unexpected or emergency situations.
NOTE
If the door unlock button is pressed, the Kia EV6 Smart Liftgate with AUTO Open feature will deactivate temporarily. However, if no door is opened within 30 seconds, the feature will reactivate automatically.
If the liftgate unlock/open button is pressed for more than 1 second, the liftgate will immediately open.
If the door lock button or liftgate open button is pressed while the Detect and Alert stage is inactive, the Smart Liftgate with AUTO Open function will remain active.
If the Smart Liftgate feature was deactivated using the smart key and a door is later opened, the Kia EV6 Smart Liftgate with AUTO Open function can be restored by closing and locking all doors again.
|
The Kia EV6 Smart Liftgate with AUTO Open system activates with a welcome alert when the smart key is detected within approximately 20–40 inches (50–100 cm) behind the liftgate.
The alert will immediately stop if the smart key moves outside the detection area during the Detect and Alert phase.

The smart key is located near a radio transmitter, airport, or other powerful communication equipment that may interfere with signal transmission.
The smart key is close to a mobile phone or portable two-way radio system.
Another nearby vehicle is operating a smart key system that interferes with the Kia EV6 smart key signal.
The detection range of the Kia EV6 Smart Liftgate system may vary depending on the environment, including:
When one side of the vehicle is raised for tire replacement or inspection.
