Kia Seltos: Windows / Window opening and closing
Contents:
You can open and close the Kia Seltos windows using the power window switch.
Type A
To open or close a window, press down or pull up the front portion of the corresponding switch to the first detent position (5).
Type B - Auto down window
Pressing the Kia Seltos power window switch momentarily to the second detent position (6) will fully lower the window, even after the switch is released. To stop the window at the desired position while it is moving, briefly pull the switch in the opposite direction of window movement.
Type C - Auto up/down window
Pressing or pulling the power window switch momentarily to the second detent position (6) will fully lower or raise the window, even after the switch is released. To stop the window at the desired position while it is operating, briefly press down or pull up the switch and then release it.
To reset the power windows
If a Kia Seltos power window does not operate normally, the automatic power window system must be reset as follows:
-
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
-
Close the window completely, then continue pulling up the power window switch for at least 1 second after the window is fully closed.
After resetting, check that the automatic window function operates smoothly before normal use.
Automatic reversal
If the upward movement of the window is blocked by an object or a body part, the Kia Seltos window will detect resistance and stop moving upward. The window will then lower approximately 11.8 in (30 cm) so the obstruction can be removed.
If the window detects resistance while the power window switch is being pulled up continuously, the window will stop moving upward and then lower approximately 1 in (2.5 cm).
If the power window switch is pulled up continuously within 5 seconds after the window was lowered by the automatic reversal feature, the automatic window reversal will not operate.
NOTICE
The automatic reverse feature for the window is active only when the "auto up" function is used by fully pulling up the switch. The automatic reverse feature will not operate if the window is raised using the halfway position of the power window switch.
WARNING
Always check for obstructions before raising any Kia Seltos window to help prevent injury or vehicle damage. If an object less than 0.16 in (4 mm) in diameter is caught between the window glass and the upper window channel, the automatic reverse window may not detect the resistance and may not stop or reverse direction.
WARNING
The automatic reverse feature does not activate while resetting the power window system. Make sure hands, arms, and other objects are safely away from the window opening before closing the windows to avoid injury.
WARNING
Do not install any accessories in your Kia Seltos that extend into the open window area. Such objects may prevent the automatic reverse feature from functioning correctly.
