Kia Seltos: Driving your vehicle / Vehicle load limit
Contents:
The vehicle load limit for the Kia Seltos is shown on the tire and loading information label located on the driver's door area.
Tire and loading information label
The label on the driver's door sill shows the original tire size, the recommended cold tire pressures, the maximum number of occupants, and the vehicle capacity weight for your Kia Seltos.
Vehicle capacity weight:
860 lbs. (390 kg)
Vehicle capacity weight is the maximum combined weight of occupants and cargo. If the vehicle is equipped with a trailer, this combined weight also includes the trailer tongue load.
Seating capacity:
Total: 5 persons (Front seat: 2 persons, Rear seat: 3 persons)
Seating capacity is the maximum number of occupants, including the driver, that the Kia Seltos may carry.
The actual seating capacity may be reduced depending on the total weight of all occupants, cargo, and any load being carried or towed.
Do not overload the vehicle, because every Kia Seltos has a maximum total weight it is designed to carry safely.
Towing capacity:
Trailer towing is not recommended for this vehicle.
Cargo capacity:
The cargo capacity of your Kia Seltos increases or decreases depending on the number of occupants and their combined weight.
Certification label
The certification label is located on the driver's door sill at the center pillar.
This label shows the maximum allowable weight of the fully loaded vehicle. This value is called the GVWR, or Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. The GVWR includes the weight of the Kia Seltos, all occupants, cargo, and installed equipment.
The certification label also shows the maximum weight that can be supported by the front and rear axles. This is called the GAWR, or Gross Axle Weight Rating.
To determine the actual load on the front and rear axles, the vehicle must be weighed at a weigh station. An authorized Kia dealer can help explain this process. Always distribute cargo evenly on both sides of the vehicle centerline to help maintain stable handling.
WARNING
Over loading
Never exceed the GVWR for your Kia Seltos, the GAWR for either the front or rear axle, or the stated vehicle capacity weight. Exceeding these ratings can reduce braking ability, affect steering and handling, increase tire stress, and raise the risk of an accident.
The label helps you determine how much cargo, equipment, and passenger weight your vehicle can carry safely.
If you carry items inside the vehicle, such as suitcases, tools, packages, or other objects, they move at the same speed as the Kia Seltos. If you stop suddenly, turn sharply, or are involved in a crash, unsecured items may continue moving and can injure the driver or passengers.
WARNING
Over loading
Do not overload your Kia Seltos. Overloading can cause heat buildup in the tires, possible tire failure, longer stopping distances, poor vehicle handling, and reduced stability, all of which may result in a crash.
NOTICE
Overloading your vehicle may cause damage. Repairs related to overloading may not be covered by your warranty. Do not overload the Kia Seltos.
