Operation tips
-
To keep dust, smoke, or unpleasant fumes from entering the Kia Seltos through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control to the recirculated air position. After the irritation has passed, return the control to the fresh air position to keep clean air moving through the cabin. Fresh air helps the driver stay more alert and comfortable.
-
Air for the heating and cooling system is drawn in through the grilles at the base of the windshield. Keep this area clear of leaves, snow, ice, or other obstructions so the Kia Seltos climate control system can work properly.
-
To help prevent fog from forming on the inside of the windshield:
-
Set the air intake control to the fresh air position and adjust the fan speed as needed.
-
Turn on the air conditioning system and set the temperature control to the desired temperature.
-
Air conditioning (A/C)
The Kia Seltos air conditioning system is filled with environmentally friendly refrigerant and is designed to cool and dehumidify the cabin for better comfort in warm or humid weather.
-
Start the engine and press the air conditioning button.
-
Set the mode to the
position. -
Set the air intake control to the outside air position or the recirculated air position.
-
Adjust the fan speed and temperature control to maintain the desired comfort level.
CAUTION
-
The refrigerant system should only be serviced by trained and certified technicians to help ensure safe and proper operation.
-
The refrigerant system should be serviced only in a well-ventilated area.
-
The air conditioning evaporator, also known as the cooling coil, should never be repaired or replaced with a unit removed from a used or salvaged vehicle. New replacement Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) evaporators should be certified and labeled as meeting SAE Standard J2842.
NOTICE
-
When using the air conditioning system, watch the temperature gauge closely while driving uphill or in heavy traffic during hot weather. A/C operation may add load to the engine. If the temperature gauge indicates overheating, keep the blower fan running but turn off the A/C system.
-
When windows are opened in humid weather, air conditioning may create water droplets inside the Kia Seltos. Because excessive moisture may damage electrical equipment, use the air conditioning system with the windows closed.
Air conditioning system operation tips
-
If the Kia Seltos has been parked in direct sunlight during hot weather, open the windows briefly to let hot air escape before using the air conditioning system.
-
To help reduce moisture on the inside of the windows during rainy or humid days, operate the air conditioning system to lower cabin humidity.
-
During A/C operation, you may occasionally notice a slight change in engine speed as the air conditioning compressor cycles. This is normal.
-
Run the A/C system for a few minutes at least once a month to help maintain maximum system performance.
-
When using the A/C system, clear water may drip or puddle under the passenger side of the vehicle. This is normal condensation from the cooling process.
-
Operating the A/C system in the recirculated air position provides maximum cooling. However, continuous operation in this mode may cause the air inside the Kia Seltos to become stale.
-
During cooling operation, a misty airflow may sometimes appear because of rapid cooling and humid air intake. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.
