SEW malfunction
When Safe Exit Warning is not working properly, a warning message will appear on the cluster, and the master warning light (
) will appear on the cluster. Have SEW inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
When the outside rear view mirror warning light is not working properly, a warning message will appear on the cluster for several seconds, and the master warning light (
) will appear on the instrument cluster. Have the Kia Seltos Safe Exit Warning system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
SEW disabled
Safe Exit Warning in the Kia Seltos may be temporarily limited or disabled when the rear bumper area around the rear-side radar sensor is covered by foreign material such as snow, rain, mud, ice, or road debris. Installing a trailer, carrier, or similar accessory can also reduce detection performance.
If this occurs, the warning message "Blind-Spot Safety system disabled. Radar blocked" will appear on the instrument cluster.
SEW will operate normally again after the foreign material, trailer, carrier, or other obstruction is removed and the Kia Seltos is restarted.
If Safe Exit Warning does not operate normally after the obstruction has been removed, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
WARNING
-
Even if no warning message appears on the cluster, SEW may not operate properly.
-
SEW may not operate correctly in open areas where nearby objects are not detected immediately after the vehicle is turned on, or when the detecting sensor is blocked by foreign material right after startup.
CAUTION
Turn off SEW before installing a trailer, carrier, or similar equipment. To use Safe Exit Warning properly, remove the trailer, carrier, or accessory that may block the rear radar.
