Stopping the vehicle and ending brake control
Collision Warning
-
To warn the driver of an approaching vehicle from the rear left or rear right side, the warning light on the side view mirror will blink, a warning message will appear on the instrument cluster, and an audible warning will sound.
-
RCCA operates when the following conditions are satisfied:
-
The Kia Seltos gear is shifted to R (Reverse).
-
Your vehicle speed is below 5 mph (8 km/h).
-
An approaching vehicle is within approximately 82 ft. (25 m) from the left or right side of your vehicle.
-
The speed of the vehicle approaching from the left or right side is above 3 mph (5 km/h).
-
NOTICE
-
If the operating conditions are satisfied, a warning may occur whenever a vehicle approaches from the left or right side, even if your Kia Seltos speed is 0 mph (0 km/h).
-
The images and colors shown in the instrument cluster may differ depending on the cluster type or theme selected in the settings menu.
Emergency Braking
-
When Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist detects a high collision risk, the warning light on the side view mirror will blink, a warning message will appear on the instrument cluster, and an audible warning will sound.
-
RCCA may operate when the following conditions are satisfied:
-
The Kia Seltos gear is shifted to R (Reverse).
-
Your vehicle speed is below 5 mph (8 km/h).
-
An approaching vehicle is within approximately 5 ft. (1.5 m) from the left or right side of your vehicle.
-
The speed of the vehicle approaching from the left or right side is above 3 mph (5 km/h).
-
-
Emergency braking may be assisted to help avoid or reduce the impact of a collision with vehicles approaching from the left or right side.
WARNING
-
Brake control will end when:
-
The approaching vehicle is no longer within the detecting range.
-
The approaching vehicle passes behind your Kia Seltos.
-
The approaching vehicle is no longer moving toward your vehicle.
-
The approaching vehicle slows down.
-
The driver presses the brake pedal with sufficient force.
-
Stopping vehicle and ending brake control
When the Kia Seltos is stopped by emergency braking, the "Drive carefully" warning message will appear on the cluster.
The driver should immediately press the brake pedal and check the surroundings before continuing to reverse or move the vehicle.
-
Brake control will end approximately 2 seconds after the vehicle is stopped by emergency braking.
-
During emergency braking, RCCA brake control will automatically cancel if the driver presses the brake pedal with excessive force.
WARNING
-
Change RCCA settings only after parking your vehicle in a safe location.
-
If another function's warning message is displayed or another audible warning is sounding, the RCCA warning message may not appear and the audible warning may not sound.
-
You may not hear the RCCA warning sound if the surrounding environment is noisy.
-
RCCA may not operate if you are already pressing the brake pedal to avoid a collision.
-
During RCCA operation, the Kia Seltos may stop suddenly. This can injure passengers or cause loose objects to move inside the cabin. Always wear seat belts and secure loose items before driving.
-
Even if there is a problem with RCCA, the vehicle's basic braking system will continue to operate normally.
WARNING
-
During emergency braking, braking control by the function will automatically cancel if the driver presses the accelerator pedal excessively.
-
RCCA does not operate in every situation and cannot prevent all collisions.
-
RCCA may warn late or may not warn at all depending on road, parking, visibility, traffic, and driving conditions.
-
The driver is responsible for controlling the Kia Seltos at all times. Do not rely only on RCCA. Maintain a safe braking distance and, when necessary, press the brake pedal to reduce speed or stop the vehicle.
-
Never deliberately test RCCA on people, animals, vehicles, objects, or other obstacles. Doing so may cause serious injury or death.
CAUTION
Brake control may not operate properly depending on the status of ESC. Only a warning may be provided when:
-
The ESC warning light is on.
-
ESC is engaged in a different control function.
NOTICE
-
If braking is assisted by RCCA, the driver must immediately press the brake pedal and check the surroundings.
-
After shifting the gear to R (Reverse), braking control will operate once for a vehicle approaching from the left side and once for a vehicle approaching from the right side.
