Light bulbs are installed in various areas of the Kia Seltos to provide exterior lighting, interior illumination, and visual signals for other drivers. Properly working lamps help improve visibility, safety, and communication on the road.

Bulb replacement precaution

Keep spare bulbs with the correct wattage rating available in case replacement is needed during an emergency.

Refer to the vehicle specifications or related bulb replacement information for the correct bulb type and wattage.

Before replacing any lamp, park the Kia Seltos in a safe place, turn the vehicle off, firmly apply the parking brake, and disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

Working on the lights

Before working on any light, firmly apply the parking brake, turn the ignition switch off, and switch off all lights. This helps prevent sudden vehicle movement, burns from hot bulbs, or electric shock.

Use only bulbs with the specified wattage for the Kia Seltos.

CAUTION

Light bulb replacement

Always replace a burned-out bulb with one of the same wattage rating. Installing an incorrect bulb may damage the fuse or electrical wiring system.

Fully install light bulbs and all parts used to secure them. If a bulb or cover is not seated correctly, heat damage, fire, or water entry into the headlight unit may occur. This can damage the headlight or cause condensation inside the lens. To help prevent damage or fire, make sure all bulbs are fully seated and locked in place.

Headlamp Lens

To prevent damage to the headlamp lens, do not clean it with chemical solvents, abrasive cleaners, or strong detergents.

NOTICE

• If a light bulb or lamp connector is removed while the lamp is still turned on, the fuse box electronic system may recognize it as a malfunction. A lamp malfunction may be stored as a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in the fuse box.

• It is normal for an operating lamp to flicker briefly. This can occur because of a stabilization function in the vehicle's electronic control system. If the lamp illuminates normally after a momentary blink, it is operating correctly.

  If the lamp continues to flicker repeatedly or turns off completely, there may be a problem with the Kia Seltos electronic control system. Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.

NOTICE

Have the headlight aiming adjusted by an authorized Kia dealer after an accident or after the headlight assembly has been reinstalled.

NOTICE

Moisture may appear inside the lamp lens after a car wash or after driving in rain. This is a natural effect caused by the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the lamp and does not necessarily mean the lamp is malfunctioning. Moisture inside the lamp usually disappears after driving the Kia Seltos with the headlamps turned on. The time needed for moisture to clear may vary depending on the size, location, and condition of the lamp. If moisture remains inside the lamp, have the vehicle checked by an authorized Kia dealer.

If you do not have the necessary tools, correct bulbs, or experience, consult an authorized Kia dealer. In many cases, replacing Kia Seltos light bulbs is difficult because other vehicle parts must be removed before the bulb can be accessed. This is especially true when the headlamp assembly must be removed.

Removing or installing the headlamp assembly incorrectly may damage the vehicle. Using non-genuine parts or low-quality bulbs may cause blown fuses or wiring damage. Kia Genuine Parts are recommended for proper quality and performance.

Do not install extra lamps or aftermarket LEDs in the Kia Seltos. Unauthorized lighting modifications may cause lamp malfunction, flickering, fuse box damage, or wiring problems.

WARNING

Halogen bulbs

Handle halogen bulbs carefully when servicing the Kia Seltos lighting system.

• Halogen bulbs contain pressurized gas and may scatter pieces of glass if they break.

• Always handle halogen bulbs with care and avoid scratches or abrasions. If the bulbs are lit, keep them away from liquids. Never touch the glass portion with bare hands, because oil residue from the skin may cause the bulb to overheat and burst when illuminated. A bulb should only be operated when it is properly installed in a headlamp.

• If a bulb becomes damaged or cracked, replace it immediately and dispose of it carefully.

• Wear eye protection when changing a bulb. Allow the bulb to cool completely before handling it.

Position lamp/Daytime running lamp (LED type) bulb replacement - Headlamp Type B

If the LED lamp (1) is not functioning, have your Kia Seltos inspected by an authorized Kia dealer. The LED lamp cannot be replaced as a separate individual component because it is part of an integrated unit. The complete LED lamp unit must be replaced when necessary.

A skilled technician should inspect or repair the position lamp/daytime running lamp (LED), because improper service may damage related vehicle components.

Headlamp (High/Low/Low assist)/Turn signal lamp/Position lamp/Daytime running lamp (LED type) bulb replacement - Headlamp Type C

If the LED lamp (1) is not operating, have the Kia Seltos inspected by an authorized Kia dealer. The LED lamp is integrated into the lamp assembly and cannot be replaced separately. If service is required, the complete LED lamp unit must be replaced.

Inspection and repair of the LED headlamp, turn signal lamp, position lamp, or daytime running lamp should be performed by a skilled technician, as incorrect service may damage related parts of the vehicle.

Using the correct lamp type and professional service helps maintain proper lighting performance, visibility, and safety for the Kia Seltos.

Front fog lamp (Bulb type) bulb replacement

1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal before beginning the replacement procedure.

2. Remove the engine under cover to access the front fog lamp area.

3. Disconnect the front fog lamp electrical connector.

4. Remove the socket from the lamp assembly by turning it counterclockwise until the tabs on the socket align with the slots in the assembly.

5. Remove the bulb from the socket by pressing it inward and rotating it counterclockwise until the bulb tabs align with the socket slots. Then pull the bulb out of the socket.

6. Insert the new bulb into the socket and rotate it until it locks securely into place.

7. Install the socket into the assembly by aligning the tabs on the socket with the slots in the assembly. Push the socket into place and turn it clockwise until it is fully secured.

8. Reconnect the front fog lamp connector.

9. Reinstall the engine under cover assembly to the body of the Kia Seltos.

Front fog lamp (LED type) bulb replacement

If the LED lamp (1) is not functioning, have your Kia Seltos inspected by an authorized Kia dealer. The LED lamp cannot be replaced as an individual component because it is built into the lamp assembly. If repair is required, the complete LED lamp unit must be replaced.

A qualified technician should inspect or repair the front fog lamp LED system because improper service may damage related vehicle parts.

Position lamp (auxiliary) (LED type) bulb replacement

If the LED lamp (1) is not operating, have your Kia Seltos inspected by an authorized Kia dealer. The LED lamp is integrated into the lamp unit and cannot be replaced separately. The entire LED lamp assembly must be replaced when necessary.

1. Remove the lamp assembly from the vehicle by carefully prying the cover and pulling the assembly outward.

2. Disconnect the bulb electrical connector.

3. Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out of the socket.

4. Insert a new bulb into the socket.

5. Reconnect the bulb electrical connector.

6. Reinstall the lamp assembly securely to the body of the Kia Seltos.

Front side marker lamp (LED type) bulb replacement

If the LED lamp (1) is not functioning, have your Kia Seltos inspected by an authorized Kia dealer. The LED lamp cannot be replaced as a separate component because it is integrated into the lamp unit. The entire LED lamp assembly must be replaced when service is required.

A qualified technician should inspect or repair the front side marker LED lamp because improper handling may damage surrounding parts or the lamp assembly.

Tail lamp/Tail and stop lamp/Side marker lamp (LED type) bulb replacement

If the LED lamp (1) is not operating, have your Kia Seltos inspected by an authorized Kia dealer. The LED lamp is not serviceable as an individual component because it is part of an integrated unit. When necessary, the full LED lamp assembly must be replaced.

Back up lamp (Bulb type) bulb replacement

The LED lamp cannot be replaced as a single separate component because it is integrated into the lamp assembly. Instead, the complete LED lamp unit must be replaced when service is required.

A skilled technician should inspect or repair the high-mounted stop lamp (LED) to help prevent damage to related vehicle parts and to maintain proper brake light visibility for other drivers.

Map lamp (Bulb type) bulb replacement

1. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, gently pry the lens cover away from the lamp housing.

2. Remove the bulb (1) by pulling it straight out.

3. Install a new bulb securely into the socket.

4. Align the lens cover tabs with the notches in the lamp housing, then snap the lens cover back into place.

WARNING

Before working on the interior lamps, make sure the "OFF" button is pressed to help prevent burns to your fingers or electric shock.

CAUTION

Be careful not to stain, scratch, or damage the lens, lens tabs, or plastic lamp housing during removal and installation.
