Kia Seltos: Appearance care / Interior care

Contents:

Use the information in the following sections to maintain the interior of your Kia Seltos. Proper interior care helps preserve trim, upholstery, leather, plastics, and electronic components.

Interior general precautions

Prevent chemicals such as perfume, cosmetic oil, sunscreen, hand cleaner, and air freshener from contacting interior parts. These substances may cause staining, discoloration, surface damage, or deterioration. If they contact interior surfaces, wipe them off immediately.

If cleaning is needed, use a mixture of warm water and a mild non-detergent cleaner. Always test any cleaner on a concealed area before applying it to a visible surface. For best results, use products designed specifically for automotive interior materials.

Kia Seltos interior care caution for electrical and electronic components

CAUTION

Electrical components

Never allow water or other liquids to contact electrical or electronic components inside the Kia Seltos, as this may damage them or cause malfunction.

Kia Seltos leather interior cleaning caution

CAUTION

Leather

When cleaning leather products such as the steering wheel, seats, or trim, use neutral detergents or solutions with low alcohol content. High-alcohol cleaners, acid detergents, or alkaline detergents may fade the leather color or strip the surface finish.

Taking care of leather seats

  • Vacuum the seats periodically to remove dust, sand, and small particles. This helps prevent abrasion and keeps the leather in good condition.

  • Wipe leather seat covers regularly with a dry, soft cloth.

  • Using a leather protectant may help reduce abrasion and maintain the original color. Read the product instructions carefully and consult a specialist when using leather coatings or protective agents.

  • Light-colored leather, such as beige or cream, can become contaminated more easily and may show dirt more clearly. Clean these seats more frequently to maintain their appearance.

  • Avoid wiping leather with a wet cloth, as excessive moisture may cause the surface to crack or deteriorate over time.

Cleaning the leather products

Remove contaminants from leather surfaces in your Kia Seltos as soon as possible. If stains are left untreated, the leather color may fade or the surface may become damaged. Follow the instructions below for removing different types of contamination.

  • Cosmetic products such as sunscreen, foundation, or similar materials

    • Apply a small amount of cleansing cream or leather cleaner to a soft cloth and gently wipe the contaminated area. Remove the cleaner with a slightly damp cloth, then dry the surface with a clean dry cloth.

  • Beverages such as coffee, soft drinks, or similar liquids

    • Apply a small amount of neutral detergent and wipe gently until the contamination no longer spreads or smears.

  • Oil

    • Remove oil immediately with an absorbent cloth, then clean the area using a stain remover made specifically for leather.

  • Chewing gum

    • Harden the gum with ice, then remove it gradually and carefully without scraping the leather surface.

Fabric seat cover

Clean the fabric seats in your Kia Seltos regularly with a vacuum cleaner, depending on the material type and how the vehicle is used. If the seats are heavily soiled with beverage stains or other contamination, use a suitable automotive interior cleaner.

To help prevent damage to the seat covers, wipe the surface down to the seams using broad, gentle movements and moderate pressure with a soft sponge or microfiber cloth.

Velcro closures on clothing, sharp objects, or rough accessories may cause snagging, scratches, or surface damage on the seats.

Make sure these objects do not rub against the fabric seat surfaces.

Cleaning the upholstery and interior trim

Car interior surfaces

Remove dust and loose dirt from Kia Seltos interior surfaces with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. If additional cleaning is needed, use a mixture of warm water and mild non-detergent cleaner. Always test any cleaner on a concealed area before applying it to a visible surface.

Fabric

Remove dust and loose dirt from fabric surfaces with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. Clean the fabric with a mild soap solution recommended for upholstery or carpets. Remove fresh stains immediately with a fabric spot cleaner. If fresh stains are not treated quickly, the fabric may become permanently stained and its color may be affected.

Improper care may also reduce the fire-resistant properties of the fabric material. Using cleaners or procedures other than those recommended may affect both the appearance and fire-resistant performance of the upholstery.

Cleaning the lap/shoulder belt webbing

Clean the lap and shoulder belt webbing with a mild soap solution recommended for upholstery or carpet cleaning. Follow the instructions provided with the soap. Do not bleach, dye, or re-dye the belt webbing, because this may weaken the material and reduce seat belt performance.

Cleaning the interior window glass

If the interior glass surfaces of the Kia Seltos become covered with an oily, greasy, or waxy film, clean them with an appropriate glass cleaner. Follow the instructions on the glass cleaner container for safe and effective use.

Kia Seltos interior rear window cleaning caution for defroster grid

CAUTION

Rear window

Do not scrape or scratch the inside surface of the rear window. Doing so may damage the rear window defroster grid and reduce defogging performance.
