Kia Seltos: Driver assistance system / FCA (Sensor fusion)
Contents:
Basic function
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with sensor fusion in the Kia Seltos is designed to help detect and monitor a vehicle ahead, as well as help identify a pedestrian or cyclist in the roadway. If the system determines that a collision risk is increasing, it may warn the driver with a warning message and audible alert, and may assist by applying emergency braking.
Junction Turning function
The Junction Turning function can help avoid or reduce the severity of a collision with an oncoming vehicle in an adjacent lane when the Kia Seltos is turning left at a crossroad with the turn signal activated. If needed, the system may assist by applying emergency braking.
Detecting sensor
[1]: Front view camera, [2]: Front radar
Refer to the images above for the detailed location of the detecting sensors. Keeping the camera and radar areas clean and unobstructed is important for proper Kia Seltos FCA performance.
CAUTION
-
Never disassemble the detecting sensor or sensor assembly, and do not damage it.
-
If a detecting sensor has been replaced or repaired, have the Kia Seltos inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
-
Do not install accessories or stickers on the front windshield, and do not tint the front windshield.
-
Use extreme care to keep the front view camera dry.
-
Never place reflective objects, such as white paper or a mirror, on the dashboard.
-
Do not apply a license plate frame, bumper sticker, film, bumper guard, or similar object near the front radar cover.
-
Always keep the front radar and its cover clean and free from dirt, snow, ice, insects, and debris. Use only a soft cloth when washing the vehicle, and do not spray high-pressure water directly onto the sensor or sensor cover.
-
If the radar or the area around the radar has been damaged or impacted, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may not operate properly even if no warning message appears on the cluster. Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
-
Genuine Kia front radar sensor covers are designed to meet required quality and performance standards. Painting, modifying, or replacing the cover with an unsuitable part may prevent Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist from working correctly. Use only Kia Genuine Parts or equivalent parts with proven quality and performance.
-
Installing a trailer, carrier, bumper accessory, or other equipment may reduce detecting performance and may temporarily limit Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist operation.
