Kia Seltos: Driver assistance system / Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)
Contents:
Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) in the Kia Seltos is designed to help detect and monitor vehicles approaching or traveling in the driver's blind spot area. When a possible collision risk is detected, the system may warn the driver with a warning message and an audible alert.
In addition, when the Kia Seltos is driving forward out of a parking space, BCA may help reduce the risk of a collision with an approaching vehicle by applying emergency braking when necessary.
BCA helps detect and inform the driver when another vehicle is located in the blind spot area.
CAUTION
The detection range may vary depending on the speed of your Kia Seltos. Even if a vehicle is in the blind spot area, BCA may not warn you if you pass it at high speed.
BCA can help detect and warn the driver when a vehicle is approaching quickly from the blind spot area.
CAUTION
The timing of the warning may vary depending on the speed of the vehicle approaching from behind or from the blind spot area.
When driving forward out of a parking space, if BCA determines that there is a risk of collision with an approaching vehicle in the blind spot area, it may help avoid or reduce the impact by applying the brakes.
Detecting sensor
[1]: Rear corner radar
Refer to the image above for the detailed location of the detecting sensors. Keeping the rear radar area clean and undamaged is important for proper Kia Seltos BCA operation.
CAUTION
-
Never disassemble the rear corner radar assembly or cause damage to it.
-
If the rear corner radar or the area near the radar has been damaged or impacted, BCA may not operate properly even if no warning message appears on the instrument cluster. Have the function inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
-
If the rear corner radars have been replaced or repaired, have the Kia Seltos inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
-
Genuine Kia rear bumpers, where the rear corner radar sensors are mounted, are designed to meet required quality and performance standards. If the bumper is painted, modified, or replaced with an unsuitable part, BCA may not function properly. Use only Kia Genuine Parts when repairing or replacing the bumper.
-
Do not apply a license plate frame, bumper sticker, film, bumper guard, or similar object near the rear corner radar.
-
BCA may not operate correctly if the bumper has been replaced, if the area around the rear corner radar is damaged, or if paint has been applied incorrectly.
-
If a trailer, carrier, bicycle rack, or similar equipment is installed, it may adversely affect rear corner radar performance, and BCA may not operate as intended.
