Kia Seltos: Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system / Auto start

Contents:

When the engine has stopped automatically through ISG, it will restart if one of the following driver actions occurs:

  • The brake pedal is released.

  • The shift lever is moved to R (Reverse) or Manual mode while the brake pedal is pressed.

The engine will start again, and the green AUTO STOP indicator (Kia Seltos AUTO STOP indicator turning off after Auto Start) on the instrument cluster will turn off.

The engine will also restart automatically without any driver actions if the following occurs:

  • The brake vacuum pressure is low.

  • The engine has been stopped for about 5 minutes.

  • A certain amount of time has passed while the air conditioning is ON.

  • The front defroster is ON.

  • The battery charge is weak.

  • The cooling or heating performance of the climate control system is not sufficient.

  • The vehicle is shifted to P (Park) while Auto Hold is activated.

  • A door is opened or the seat belt is unfastened while Auto Hold is activated.

  • The EPB switch is pressed while Auto Hold is activated.
