Windshield wipers
When your Kia K4 is in the ON position, you can operate the windshield wiper system using these modes:
MIST: For a quick, single-pass clear, push the lever to this position and release. If you maintain pressure in this position, the wipers will continue to operate until released.
OFF: Wipers are in a resting, non-operational state.
INT: Wipers operate intermittently, which is ideal for light rain or mist. You can customize the interval frequency by rotating the speed control knob to match the intensity of the weather.
LO: Normal continuous wiper speed for steady rain.
HI: Rapid continuous wiper speed for heavy downpours.
WARNING
Do not operate the washer fluid system in sub-freezing temperatures until you have properly warmed the windshield using the vehicle's defroster. Spraying fluid onto a freezing cold glass surface can cause the solution to ice over, severely obstructing your vision and potentially leading to accidents, property damage, or serious injury.
NOTE
If your Kia K4 has accumulated a heavy layer of snow or ice, it is essential to run the defroster for approximately 10 minutes or manually clear the debris before activating the wipers. Attempting to force the wipers through heavy snow can overload the system and cause permanent damage to the wiper motor or the arm linkages.
TIP
If you encounter heavy snow while driving your Kia K4, the wipers may temporarily cease operation if they become bogged down by ice build-up. This is an integrated safety feature designed to protect the wiper motor from electrical burnout or mechanical failure. If this occurs, safely pull over, clear the accumulated snow from the windshield and the wiper blades, and then resume operation.

Ensure the wiper speed control switch is set to the OFF position.
To clean a soiled windshield, gently pull the control lever toward the steering wheel. This action sprays washer fluid onto the glass and triggers the Kia K4 wipers for 1–3 cleaning cycles. The cleaning process continues as long as you maintain pressure on the lever.
If you notice the Kia K4 windshield washer fails to spray, first verify the fluid level. Should the reservoir be low, refill it using a high-quality, non-abrasive windshield washer fluid specifically formulated for automotive use. The reservoir filler neck is conveniently located in the front of the engine compartment on the passenger side of the Kia K4.
NOTE
To avoid damaging the washer pump motor, never activate the washer system if the fluid reservoir is empty.
WARNING
During freezing weather conditions, always warm the windshield using the vehicle's defroster before spraying fluid. Using the washer on a frozen windshield can cause the liquid to ice over, severely obscuring your view and creating a significant safety hazard.
NOTE
To prevent scratches on the glass or premature wear on the blades, never operate the wipers while the windshield is completely dry.
Protect the integrity of the wiper blades by avoiding contact with harsh chemicals such as gasoline, kerosene, paint thinner, or other strong solvents.
Do not attempt to manually force the wiper arms to move; this can strip the wiper motor gears and damage the linkage components of your Kia K4.
For safe operation in colder climates, ensure your washer fluid contains an effective anti-freeze additive to prevent line freezing and system damage.
The controls for the rear wiper and washer system are located at the very end of the main control lever.
Rotate the end switch to your desired setting to manage the rear window visibility of your Kia K4:
|
HI: Continuous normal-speed rear wiper operation.
LO: Intermittent rear wiper operation.
OFF: Rear system is fully deactivated.
To clean the rear window, push the entire lever away from you. This sprays washer fluid and engages the rear wipers for several cycles. The cycle persists until the lever is released.
|
As a convenience feature, if your Kia K4 front wipers are currently active and you shift into Reverse (R), the rear wiper will automatically cycle once to ensure you have clear visibility behind the vehicle.
