However, you must adhere to the Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions schedule if any of the following apply to how you operate your Kia K4:

• A: You repeatedly drive short distances of less than 5 miles (8 km) in normal temperatures, or less than 10 miles (16 km) in freezing temperatures.
• B: You frequently idle the engine for extended periods or drive at low speeds for long distances.
• C: You frequently travel on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, graveled, or salt-treated roads.
• D: You operate the vehicle in areas that use salt or other corrosive materials, or in regions with extremely cold weather.
• E: You drive in exceptionally dusty environmental conditions.
• F: You drive in areas characterized by heavy traffic congestion.
• G: You frequently drive on steep uphill, downhill, or winding mountain roads.
• H: You utilize your Kia K4 for towing trailers, camping trips, or driving with heavy cargo loaded on the roof rack.
• I: You use your vehicle as a patrol car, taxi, or for any other rigorous commercial purpose.
• J: You frequently drive at high speeds or engage in aggressive, rapid acceleration and deceleration.
• K: You frequently navigate through stop-and-go city traffic.

If your Kia K4 is operated under these demanding conditions, you must inspect your vehicle, replace critical components, or replenish fluids more frequently. Always follow the prescribed maintenance intervals based on the time or distance milestones shown in the service charts.

NOTE

Your Kia K4 may be equipped with an advanced Oil Life Management System that intelligently predicts the remaining life of your engine oil based on your specific driving history and alerts you when a service is required.

• If engine oil quality deteriorates more rapidly due to severe driving conditions, an oil life alert will appear on the instrument cluster prior to the standard replacement interval. Please have the engine oil and filter changed promptly by an authorized Kia dealer.
• The Oil Life Management System functions accurately only when you use the manufacturer-recommended engine oil. If you utilize a different oil grade, you must revert to the Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions schedule. Additionally, check your engine oil level manually on a regular basis, as the system assumes you are maintaining proper fluid levels.
• Always ensure that the technician resets the oil life monitor whenever the engine oil is changed. If this step is missed, the Oil Life Management System will not function correctly.
• If the system does not trigger an alert by the time you reach the maximum maintenance interval, have your Kia K4 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer to ensure the system is operational.

TIP

Fuel additives

If TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is unavailable, the use of one bottle of approved fuel additive is recommended during scheduled services. Authorized Kia dealers can provide the correct additives and guidance for your Kia K4. Do not mix unapproved additives, as this may damage the fuel system.

Engine oil and engine oil filter

Regularly check the engine oil level in your Kia K4, as minor oil consumption is a normal operational characteristic. Cooling system (Engine)

When topping off your Kia K4 cooling system, use only deionized or soft water mixed with the factory-approved coolant. Avoid using "hard" water, as mineral buildup can cause severe malfunctions or permanent engine damage.

Drive belts (Engine)

Routine inspection of the alternator, water pump, and air conditioner drive belts is essential. If cracks, fraying, or loss of tension are detected, repair or replacement is necessary. Additionally, check the drive belt tensioner, idler pulley, and alternator pulley for wear to ensure the reliable operation of your Kia K4 accessories.
