Rear View Monitor malfunction

If the Rear View Monitor system in your Kia K4 experiences a technical issue, the image displayed on the screen may appear distorted, tinted green, blue, or simply show a black screen.

If you observe flickering, a frozen image, or if the Rear View Monitor fails to activate reliably, please visit an authorized Kia dealer for a professional inspection to ensure your Kia K4 safety systems are fully operational.

Limitations of Rear View Monitor

Please be aware that environmental factors may affect the performance of the Rear View Monitor in your Kia K4. For instance, when the vehicle is stationary for an extended period during cold winter weather, or if parked within certain indoor parking facilities, condensation or exhaust fumes may temporarily obscure or blur the camera image.

The screen display may appear abnormal under the following circumstance:

  • When the trunk or liftgate is not fully closed.

WARNING

  • The Wide Rear View camera does not capture the complete, 360-degree area behind your Kia K4. Always visually verify the surroundings behind your vehicle by checking the inside and outside rearview mirrors before initiating parking or backing up maneuvers.

  • The distance depicted on the Rear View Monitor screen may differ from the actual physical distance due to the calibration of the Wide Rear View camera. Additionally, if the Kia K4 is tilted due to heavy cargo loading, the projected Rear Parking Guidelines may become inaccurate. Always rely on a direct visual check of the vehicle's surroundings for maximum safety.

  • To maintain optimal clarity and system performance, always keep the wide-rear view camera lens clean. Use only water and a soft cloth; avoid harsh chemical solvents such as gasoline, acetone, or strong alkaline detergents, which can permanently damage the lens coating.

  • Driving with the trunk or liftgate open is hazardous and improper. For your safety and the safety of others, ensure all closures are secure before driving your Kia K4.
