To enable or disable the Lane Keeping Assist system in your Kia K4, simply press and hold the Lane Driving Assist button (Lane Driving Assist symbol on Kia K4) located on the steering wheel while the vehicle ignition is in the ON position.

Once the system is successfully activated, a gray or green indicator light (Lane Keeping Assist status indicator on Kia K4 instrument cluster) will appear on the instrument cluster to confirm the status of the Lane Keeping Assist for your Kia K4.

TIP

  • If the operational requirements for Lane Keeping Assist are not met, the indicator on the Kia K4 display will appear in gray (Gray standby indicator for Lane Keeping Assist).

  • When all operating conditions are met and the system is ready to assist, the indicator will turn green (Green active indicator for Lane Keeping Assist) on the instrument cluster.

Warning and control

The Lane Keeping Assist function provides comprehensive safety through the following warning and control mechanisms:

Lane Departure Warning

When the Kia K4 detects an unintended departure, the system issues a warning through a green indicator light on the instrument cluster, a blinking indicator corresponding to the direction of departure, an audible alert, and a distinct vibration in the steering wheel.

The Lane Departure Warning feature in the Kia K4 typically activates when:

  • Your driving speed is approximately 40-120 mph (60-200 km/h).

Lane Keeping Assist

When the system is actively engaged, the green indicator (Active green lane indicator) blinks on the instrument cluster, and the Kia K4 steering wheel applies gentle torque adjustments to keep the vehicle safely within its lane.

Lane Keeping Assist activates under the following conditions:

  • Your driving speed is approximately 40-120 mph (60-200 km/h).

Hands-off warning

  1. Keep hands on steering wheel

If you remove your hands from the steering wheel for several seconds while the Kia K4 is assisting, a warning message will appear on the instrument cluster, accompanied by a multi-stage audible alert.

WARNING

  • Steering assistance may be suppressed if you grip the Kia K4 steering wheel too tightly or apply excessive steering force.

  • Lane Keeping Assist is a convenience system and does not operate at all times. You remain responsible for the safe operation of your Kia K4 and for maintaining your lane position.

  • The hands-off warning message may trigger with a delay depending on road geometry and surface conditions. Always keep your hands on the steering wheel.

  • The system may fail to detect your hands if you are wearing thick gloves or gripping the wheel too lightly, resulting in unnecessary hands-off warnings.

  • Attaching aftermarket objects to the steering wheel can interfere with the sensor's ability to detect your grip, causing the warning system to malfunction.

TIP

  • You may override the Kia K4 steering assistance at any time by applying manual steering input.

  • During active steering assistance, the steering wheel may exhibit a different weight or feel compared to manual driving.

  • If Highway Lane Change Assist is selected, a green lane path may be displayed on the Kia K4 instrument cluster.
