Keep hands on steering wheel
Lane Following Assist Canceled
For more comprehensive details regarding these alerts, please refer to the specific warning and control section of your Kia K4 function guide.
Lane Following Assist
|
When the front camera successfully detects either lane markings or a vehicle traveling ahead while you are driving at speeds below 110 mph (180 km/h), the green indicator light (
) will illuminate on the instrument cluster. Once active, the Lane Following Assist system in your Kia K4 will provide automatic steering adjustments to help keep your vehicle centered within the detected lane.
TIP
When the system is in a standby mode or steering assistance is momentarily unavailable, the white indicator light (
) will blink and transition to a gray color to indicate that the Kia K4 is not currently providing steering input.
Hands-off warning
|
|
For your safety, if you remove your hands from the steering wheel for several seconds while the system is active, the Kia K4 will initiate a multi-stage warning process:
First stage: A visual warning message appears to prompt the driver to resume steering control.
Second stage: A more urgent visual warning (accompanied by a red steering wheel icon) is displayed, paired with an escalating audible alert to ensure the driver acknowledges the system request.
|
|
If you fail to place your hands back on the steering wheel after these warnings have been issued, the Kia K4 Lane Following Assist system will automatically cancel to prioritize safe manual vehicle control.
WARNING
The Lane Following Assist system in your Kia K4 may be inhibited and fail to provide necessary steering assistance if you apply excessive force by holding the steering wheel too tightly or by turning the wheel beyond a specific operational degree.
Please remember that Lane Following Assist is a driver-assistance feature and does not operate at all times. It is your ultimate responsibility as the driver to maintain safe control of your Kia K4 and ensure the vehicle remains properly positioned within its lane.
The hands-off warning message is triggered by sensors that may experience delays depending on complex road conditions or geometry. For your safety, always keep your hands securely on the steering wheel while the Kia K4 is in motion.
Attaching aftermarket objects, covers, or weighted devices to the steering wheel can interfere with the torque sensors, which may cause the hands-off warning system to malfunction or trigger unnecessarily.
The Kia K4 sensor system requires an accurate detection of your grip. If you wear thick gloves or maintain an exceptionally light grip on the steering wheel, Lane Following Assist may fail to detect your presence, potentially resulting in premature hands-off warning alerts.
TIP
When the system successfully identifies both lane markings, the lane line indicators on the Kia K4 instrument cluster will transition from gray to white, signaling that the system is fully active and providing support.

Visual representations, icon styles, and color schemes on the Kia K4 display may vary slightly depending on your specific instrument cluster configuration or selected digital theme.
If lane markings are not clearly detected, the steering assistance provided by Lane Following Assist may be limited or may rely primarily on the path of a lead vehicle, depending on prevailing driving conditions.
You always retain priority control; you are free to steer your Kia K4 manually at any time, even while Lane Following Assist is actively providing steering support.
Due to the electronic nature of the steering assist, the steering wheel may occasionally feel slightly heavier or lighter than during standard manual driving when Lane Following Assist is engaged in your Kia K4.
