If you encounter a flat tire while driving your Kia K4, you can utilize the onboard emergency tools to replace the damaged tire with the spare tire stored in your vehicle.
WARNING
Driving on a flat tire causes permanent structural damage to the tire carcass. Never attempt to reinflate a tire that has been driven on while severely underinflated or flat, as this significantly increases the risk of a blowout and a serious crash. In such cases, replace the Kia K4 tire with the spare as soon as it is safe to do so.
Changing a tire on the roadside can be dangerous. To minimize the risk of serious injury or fatality, strictly follow the safety instructions provided in this section whenever you need to change a tire on your Kia K4.
CAUTION
When handling the jack and jack handle, exercise caution; the flat end of the handle features sharp edges that could cause cuts if handled improperly.

Jack handle
Vehicle jack
Wheel lug nut wrench
Towing hook
The jack and associated tools for your Kia K4 are stored within the luggage compartment trim. To access them, carefully remove the tray cover as indicated in the vehicle illustration.
Jacking instructions
The provided jack is intended exclusively for emergency tire changes on your Kia K4.
Ensure the jack and tools are properly secured in their designated storage location to prevent rattling or damage while the vehicle is in motion.
To reduce the possibility of personal injury, follow these established jacking procedures:
WARNING
Changing tires
Never attempt vehicle repairs, including tire changes, in active traffic lanes of a public road or highway.
Always move the Kia K4 completely off the road and onto a stable, level shoulder before changing a tire. If you cannot find firm, level ground, contact a professional towing service for assistance.
Always use the specific front and rear jacking points designed for the Kia K4. Never place the jack under the bumpers or any non-reinforced body panels.
Failure to properly secure the vehicle may cause it to roll off the jack, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
Never go underneath a vehicle supported only by a jack.
Do not start or run the engine while the vehicle is raised on the jack.
Do not allow any occupants to remain inside the Kia K4 while it is elevated.
Ensure all children remain in a secure area, well away from the road and the vehicle, throughout the process.
WARNING
Tire jack
Never put any part of your body under a vehicle that is supported solely by a jack. If you must perform work under the vehicle, always use approved vehicle support stands.
WARNING
Changing tires
Never attempt emergency vehicle repairs in the path of oncoming traffic.
WARNING
Running vehicle on jack
Do not start or run the engine while your Kia K4 is on the jack, as vibrations may cause the vehicle to fall.
Always ensure the jack is securely stored after use to prevent noise and damage to the luggage area trim.
TIP
Retreaded tires
Using retreaded tires is not recommended. Substantial design variations and the age of a retreaded tire's casing structure can significantly limit service life and negatively impact the driving safety of your Kia K4.
To access the spare tire, locate and turn the tire hold-down wing bolt (1) in a counterclockwise direction until it is fully removed.
|
To store the tire back in your Kia K4, follow these steps in the exact reverse order of removal, ensuring it is securely fastened.
Properly store the spare tire and all emergency tools to prevent "rattling" or movement while your Kia K4 is in motion.
If the tire hold-down wing bolt is tightened securely and difficult to loosen by hand, you can easily release it using the provided jack handle.
Insert the flat end of the jack handle (1) into the slot of the tire hold-down wing bolt.
|
Turn the wing bolt counterclockwise using the jack handle. Please use extreme caution, as the jack handle may have sharp edges.
WARNING
Touching surface of the cargo area
Do not touch the metal surface of the cargo area while the engine is running or immediately after driving, as the heat transfer could result in serious bodily injury.
Always turn the engine off and wait for the vehicle to cool down, or wear protective gloves when removing the spare tire from the luggage compartment of your Kia K4.
Your Kia K4 may be equipped with a compact spare tire. This space-saving design is smaller than a conventional tire and is engineered strictly for temporary emergency use.
Drive with extra caution whenever the compact spare is in use. It is recommended to have your original full-size tire repaired or replaced and reinstalled as soon as possible.
For safety reasons, do not operate the Kia K4 with more than one compact spare tire installed at the same time.
WARNING
Spare tire usage
The compact spare is for emergency purposes only. Never operate your Kia K4 on this spare tire at speeds exceeding 50 mph (80 km/h). The damaged original tire should be addressed immediately to avoid total failure of the temporary spare, which could lead to loss of control, bodily injury, or death.
The compact spare tire in your Kia K4 should be maintained at an inflation pressure of 60 psi (420 kPa).
NOTE
Always check the inflation pressure immediately after installing the spare tire and adjust it to the specified 60 psi (420 kPa) if necessary.
When using a compact spare tire, you must observe the following critical precautions:
Under no circumstances should you exceed 50 mph (80 km/h), as higher speeds can cause catastrophic tire failure.
Drive slowly and remain vigilant; any road hazard, such as a deep pothole or sharp debris, could cause severe damage to the compact spare.
Continuous or long-distance use could result in tire failure, loss of vehicle control, and potential injury.
Do not exceed your Kia K4's maximum load rating or the load capacity printed on the sidewall of the compact spare tire.
Avoid driving over obstacles. The compact spare's smaller diameter reduces ground clearance by approximately 1 inch (25 mm), which may cause underbody damage.
Do not attempt to pass through an automatic car wash while the compact spare tire is installed.
Do not use the compact spare tire on any other vehicle, as it is designed specifically for the unique requirements of your Kia K4.
The tread life of the compact spare is significantly shorter than a standard tire. Inspect it regularly and replace it with a unit of the same size and design if the tread is worn.
Do not combine the compact spare with any other wheel types. Do not use standard tires, winter/snow tires, or trim rings alongside the compact spare, as this can damage vehicle components.
Never install more than one compact spare tire on your Kia K4 at any given time.
Do not tow a trailer while the compact spare tire is installed on your vehicle.
Please note that the specific design and layout of the emergency jack label in your particular Kia K4 may vary slightly from the illustration provided above. Always refer to the physical label affixed to your vehicle's jack assembly for the most accurate and up-to-date technical specifications, which include:
Exact Model Name of the jack unit.
Maximum allowable load capacity.
Mandatory requirement to engage the parking brake before operation.
Mandatory requirement to stop the engine before operation.
Strict prohibition against positioning your body under a vehicle supported solely by a jack.

Requirement that the jack's base plate must be positioned vertically and securely under the lift point.
Requirement to shift the transmission into P (Park) before commencing.
Mandatory use on firm, stable, and level ground surfaces.
Identification of the jack manufacturer.
