The Kia K4 fuel filler door is designed to be opened and closed manually from outside the vehicle, ensuring reliable access to the fuel tank.

Opening the fuel filler door

  1. Ensure the engine is turned completely OFF.
  2. Pull up the fuel filler door release mechanism to unlatch the exterior door panel.

  3. Pull the fuel filler door outward by its edge to fully open it.

  4. To remove the fuel tank cap (1), rotate it counterclockwise. A brief hissing noise is normal as the tank pressure equalizes.
  5. Safely place the cap in the designated holder on the inside of the fuel filler door.

NOTE

Before refueling your Kia K4, always verify the correct fuel type. Putting diesel or ethanol into a gasoline-powered vehicle will cause catastrophic failure to the fuel injection system and engine components.

TIP

If the fuel filler door on your Kia K4 is frozen shut due to ice, tap lightly or press firmly on the edge of the door to break the ice seal. Do not use excessive force or pry the door open. If necessary, use an approved de-icing spray, or move the vehicle to a heated environment until the ice melts naturally.
