Forward Attention Warning
The Forward Attention Warning (FAW) system in your Kia K4 acts as an intelligent safety monitor. By utilizing the in-cabin camera, the Kia K4 analyzes your driving behavior, including your eye movement, gaze direction, and the duration your eyes remain closed. Should the system determine that you are not adequately focused on the road, the Kia K4 will issue an audible alert lasting approximately one second, while simultaneously displaying the Forward Attention Warning light (
) on the instrument cluster. This visual indicator will remain active until the system confirms you have redirected your attention to the road.
Operating conditions
The Kia K4 Forward Attention Warning system engages under the following threshold conditions:

Continuous Gaze Deviation: When the driver’s eyes are directed away from the road for 3 seconds or more while the Kia K4 is traveling at speeds exceeding 12 mph (20 km/h).

Cumulative Distraction: When total time spent looking away from the road reaches 10 seconds or more within a rolling 30-second window, provided the Kia K4 is moving at 12 mph (20 km/h) or faster.

Eye Closure Detection: When the driver's eyes remain closed for 3 seconds or more while the Kia K4 is operating at speeds above 6 mph (10 km/h).
Off conditions

The warning light and audible alert will deactivate immediately once the Kia K4 detects that the driver has looked forward continuously for at least 1 second.
WARNING
Please be aware that if your Kia K4 is already outputting an audible alert or display message from a higher-priority safety system, the Forward Attention Warning may be suppressed, and the corresponding alert may not be generated.
CAUTION

Occasionally, the Kia K4 may issue a warning even if you are focused on the road, as the system's sensitivity may be triggered by specific individual driving styles or habits.

The Forward Attention Warning is provided as a supplemental comfort and safety feature in the Kia K4 and cannot perfectly detect every state of driver distraction.

Always remember that the driver remains exclusively responsible for safe vehicle operation and must maintain focus on the road ahead.

For your privacy, the Kia K4 Forward Attention Warning system does not store any video footage, nor does it transmit recorded videos outside of the vehicle.
