The climate control system in your Kia K4 is designed to provide optimal comfort by precisely regulating the cabin temperature, humidity, and airflow, ensuring a pleasant driving environment for both you and your passengers regardless of external weather conditions.
Ventilation
Set the air distribution mode to
.
Adjust the air intake control to the external (fresh) air position.
Select your preferred cabin temperature using the climate controls.
Choose the desired fan speed to regulate the volume of air circulation within your Kia K4.
Heating
Set the air distribution mode to
.
Ensure the air intake control is set to draw in external air.
Adjust the temperature dial or digital setting to your comfort level.
Set the fan speed to your preferred intensity.
For enhanced heating performance and dehumidification, turn the Kia K4 air conditioning system ON. If the windshield begins to fog, switch the mode to
or
to clear the glass.
Heating system operation tips
To prevent dust or external pollutants from entering the cabin, temporarily select the recirculated air mode. Remember to switch back to external air intake once the conditions improve to maintain fresh air quality inside the Kia K4.
The climate system draws air through the intake grille located at the base of the windshield. Regularly ensure this area is clear of leaves, ice, or snow to maintain efficient system performance.
To minimize interior windshield fogging: always use the external air setting, engage the air conditioning to remove moisture, and adjust the fan speed as needed.
Air conditioning (A/C)
The Kia K4 air conditioning system is factory-filled with high-efficiency R-1234yf refrigerant.
Start your Kia K4 and press the A/C button.
Set the mode to the face-level position
.
Select between external or recirculated air based on your cooling needs.
Adjust the fan and temperature controls to achieve the desired cabin climate.
CAUTION
Refrigerant handling must only be performed by trained and certified technicians to guarantee the safety and integrity of the Kia K4 climate system.
All air conditioning maintenance should be conducted in a properly ventilated workspace.
Never install a used or salvaged evaporator; all replacement Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) evaporators must be certified and labeled as compliant with SAE Standard J2842.
NOTE
Excessive air conditioning use: When driving in extreme heat, through heavy traffic, or up steep inclines, keep an eye on the engine temperature gauge. Should the Kia K4 begin to overheat, you may keep the blower fan active to circulate air, but you must switch off the A/C system immediately to reduce engine load.
CAUTION
To prevent condensation and potential water damage to the Kia K4 interior electrical components, operate the A/C system only when all windows and the sunroof are fully closed.
A/C system operation tips
If your Kia K4 has been parked in direct sunlight, open the windows for a few minutes before driving to allow trapped hot air to escape quickly.
Operating the A/C on humid or rainy days helps dehumidify the air, significantly reducing window fogging.
You may notice a minor fluctuation in vehicle speed or engine sound when the A/C compressor engages; this is a normal characteristic of the system.
Run your Kia K4 A/C system for a few minutes every month, even in winter, to keep the internal seals lubricated and maintain optimal performance.
Small puddles of water under the passenger side of the vehicle are normal and are simply a result of the A/C system draining collected condensation.
Recirculated air provides the fastest cooling, but switch to external air periodically to prevent the cabin atmosphere from becoming stale.
A momentary misty airflow may appear when the system performs rapid cooling of humid air; this is normal and will dissipate quickly.
The climate control air filter in your Kia K4 acts as a vital barrier, capturing dust, pollen, and other environmental pollutants before they enter the cabin. Over time, debris can accumulate, leading to a noticeable reduction in airflow from the vents. A clogged filter can also cause unwanted moisture buildup on the inside of the windshield, even when the fresh air intake mode is active, which may impair your visibility while driving your Kia K4.
When you notice reduced airflow, it is time to replace the climate control air filter. If you are not comfortable performing this maintenance task yourself, we recommend having the filter replaced by an authorized Kia dealer. For detailed step-by-step instructions on how to access and replace the unit, please refer to the "Climate control air filter" section of your owner's manual.
CAUTION
Always replace the climate control air filter according to the specified Maintenance Schedule for the Kia K4. Neglecting to replace this filter on a regular basis can lead to significantly reduced airflow, diminished heating and cooling efficiency, and the development of unpleasant odors within your vehicle's cabin.
NOTE
If you experience a sudden and unexplained decrease in airflow from your Kia K4 air vents, we advise having the system inspected promptly by an authorized Kia dealer to identify potential obstructions or blower motor issues.

The specific A/C refrigerant label found in your Kia K4 may vary in appearance from the illustration depending on the production batch or region. This label contains essential technical data regarding your vehicle's climate system.
The symbols and specifications displayed on the label generally represent the following:
Caution/Safety Warning
Classification of the refrigerant type
Classification of the required compressor lubricant
Flammability classification of the refrigerant
Service requirement: Must be handled by a registered technician
Total amount of refrigerant required for the system
You can typically locate the refrigerant label on the underside of the hood of your Kia K4. Please refer to the "Refrigerant label" section of your manual for precise location details.
Maintaining the correct level of refrigerant is critical for the cooling performance of your Kia K4. Both low refrigerant levels and overfilling the system can result in poor A/C performance or even mechanical damage. If you suspect abnormal operation, have your Kia K4 inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
DANGER
The lubricant and refrigerant within the Kia K4 A/C system are pressurized to very high levels. Improper service procedures can result in a dangerous release or explosion. To eliminate the risk of severe bodily injury or death, the air conditioning system must exclusively be serviced by trained and certified Kia technicians.
NOTE
Using the precise type and volume of oil and refrigerant is mandatory. Using incorrect specifications can cause irreparable damage to your Kia K4 air conditioning components. To prevent system failure, rely only on trained and certified professionals for all A/C maintenance.
WARNING
Vehicles equipped with R-1234yf refrigerant

Because R-1234yf refrigerant is mildly flammable and functions under high pressure, the A/C system in your Kia K4 must only be serviced by authorized technicians following strict safety protocols (Refer to SAE J2842 standard). It is essential to use only the manufacturer-approved lubricant and refrigerant. Furthermore, all refrigerants must be reclaimed using professional-grade recovery equipment; venting refrigerant directly into the atmosphere is illegal and environmentally hazardous. Ignoring these safety guidelines can lead to severe personal injury.
