The AUTO HOLD feature is designed to enhance comfort in the Kia K4 by maintaining braking pressure automatically, allowing you to remove your foot from the brake pedal while the vehicle is at a complete stop, such as in heavy traffic or at traffic lights.

The Kia K4 instrument cluster serves as the primary interface for system alerts. The following messages may appear to guide you through system transitions or conditions:

When you apply the EPB while AUTO HOLD is active:

Kia K4 cluster notification: Parking brake automatically engaged
  1. Parking brake automatically engaged.

When the automated conversion from AUTO HOLD to the EPB fails:

Kia K4 warning display: AUTO HOLD turning off, press brake pedal
  1. AUTO HOLD turning Off! Press brake pedal.

NOTE

When this message is displayed, both the AUTO HOLD and EPB functions may be temporarily unavailable. For your safety and to prevent vehicle movement, immediately depress the brake pedal manually.

If you disable AUTO HOLD without pressing the brake pedal:

Kia K4 instruction: Press brake pedal to deactivate AUTO HOLD
  1. Press brake pedal to deactivate AUTO HOLD.

If you attempt to engage AUTO HOLD while the door or hood is open:

Kia K4 alert: AUTO HOLD conditions not met, please close door and hood
  1. AUTO HOLD conditions not met. Close door and hood.

Ensure that all doors and the hood are securely latched before attempting to engage the AUTO HOLD system in your Kia K4 again.
