Contents:

Use the information in the following sections to keep the exterior and interior of your vehicle clean.

Exterior care

Maintaining the exterior of your Kia K4 is essential not only for preserving its aesthetic appeal but also for ensuring the longevity of the vehicle's paintwork and protective coatings. By following these professional care guidelines, you can protect your Kia K4 from environmental degradation and environmental hazards.

NOTE

Please be aware that parking your Kia K4 near highly reflective surfaces, such as stainless steel signboards or modern glass buildings, can lead to localized damage. Concentrated reflected sunlight can cause deformation or discoloration of plastic exterior trim components, including bumpers, spoilers, light assemblies, and side mirrors. To protect your Kia K4, we recommend parking in shaded areas or using a high-quality vehicle cover when parking in bright, urban environments.

Exterior general caution

When applying any chemical cleaner, wax, or polish to your Kia K4, always adhere strictly to the manufacturer's label instructions. Carefully read all warning and caution statements to ensure the product is compatible with modern automotive finishes.

Finish maintenance

Washing

To shield the finish of your Kia K4 from premature oxidation, rust, and environmental deterioration, we recommend a thorough exterior wash with lukewarm or cold water at least once a month. Regular cleaning removes accumulated atmospheric pollutants and grime that can etch the clear coat over time.

If you frequent unpaved roads or drive your Kia K4 in harsh conditions, ensure you wash the vehicle immediately after returning to remove accumulated road salt, mud, and debris. Pay particular attention to the underside of the chassis and ensure that all drain holes located along the lower edges of the doors and rocker panels remain clear, preventing trapped moisture from causing internal corrosion.

Stubborn contaminants such as insect residue, tar, tree sap, bird droppings, and industrial fallout can cause permanent damage to the paintwork of your Kia K4 if left untreated. These deposits should be cleaned off promptly using a mild, automotive-safe pH-neutral soap.

After washing, rinse the entire Kia K4 thoroughly with clean, cold, or lukewarm water. Avoid washing the vehicle under direct sunlight or while the body panels are hot, as this can cause soapy water to dry prematurely, leaving unsightly spots or streaks on the finish.

Following a wash, always test your brakes by driving at a slow speed in a safe area. If you find that braking performance has been temporarily reduced due to water ingress, gently apply the brakes while moving forward at a very low speed to dry the discs and pads through friction and heat.

NOTE

  • Avoid using harsh industrial-strength soaps, abrasive chemical detergents, or boiling water, as these can strip the protective wax layer from your Kia K4 and cause long-term harm to the paint finish.

  • Exercise caution when using high-pressure water sprayers or automatic car washes near the side windows of your Kia K4. Excessive pressure can force water past the window seals, potentially leading to unwanted moisture in the cabin or damage to interior electronics.

  • To preserve the optical clarity and structural integrity of plastic trim and lighting units, never use aggressive chemical solvents, alcohol-based cleaners, or strong detergents for detailing your Kia K4.

WARNING

After washing your Kia K4, always perform a brief brake system test while driving at a low, safe speed to ensure that water has not compromised braking performance. Should you notice a reduction in stopping power, effectively dry the brake discs and pads by applying light, consistent pressure to the pedal while maintaining a slow forward speed until full responsiveness is restored.

High-pressure washing

When operating high-pressure washing equipment on your Kia K4, it is imperative to maintain a safe, adequate distance from the vehicle's bodywork. Utilizing excessive pressure or bringing the nozzle too close to the surface can result in irreversible damage to the paintwork, trim, or seals, and may cause forced water penetration into sensitive areas.

Do not direct the high-pressure spray toward the vehicle's exterior cameras, ultrasonic sensors, or their immediate surrounding areas. The kinetic energy from the high-pressure water stream can misalign or permanently damage these sensitive driving assistance components, negatively affecting their operational accuracy.

Furthermore, avoid aiming the high-pressure nozzle directly at any rubber boots, suspension gaiters, or electrical wiring connectors. Direct contact with high-pressure jets can breach these protective covers, leading to water ingress, lubricant washout, or electrical shorts within the Kia K4 systems.

NOTE

Wetting the engine compartment

  • We strongly advise against washing the Kia K4 engine compartment with water. Using water, especially high-pressure streams, in the engine bay can lead to catastrophic failures in the complex electrical circuits and control modules housed there.

  • Ensure that no water, cleaning agents, or other liquids enter the electronic component housings or air intake ducts, as moisture in these areas will cause significant internal damage to the Kia K4 powertrain systems.

  • After completing any wash cycle, exercise extreme caution when braking. Pay close attention to surrounding traffic conditions and maintain a safe following distance until the brakes have fully dried and the standard braking function is completely restored.

Waxing

To preserve the showroom shine of your Kia K4, we recommend applying a professional-grade wax whenever you notice that water no longer beads effectively on the painted surfaces.

Before beginning the waxing process, ensure the Kia K4 is thoroughly washed and completely dry. Select a high-quality liquid or paste wax formulated for modern clear-coat finishes and follow the manufacturer's application instructions precisely. Furthermore, wax all exterior metal trim components to provide an additional layer of protection and maintain their original luster.

Note that the use of specialized spot removers to clear oil, tar, or asphalt deposits will often strip the protective wax from those specific areas. Always re-wax these treated sections immediately, even if the rest of your Kia K4 does not yet require a full waxing cycle.

When applying wax, use caution to avoid contact with the lenses of your headlamps, taillamps, or side marker lights, as residue can dull their finish.

CAUTION

Drying and cleaning your vehicle

  • Never attempt to wipe dust, dirt, or debris off the body of your Kia K4 using a dry cloth. This action creates friction that can permanently scratch and swirl the clear-coat finish.

  • Avoid the use of steel wool, abrasive scrubbing pads, acidic detergents, or strong cleaning agents containing high alkaline or caustic compounds on chrome-plated and anodized aluminum surfaces. These substances can aggressively strip protective coatings, leading to rapid discoloration, pitting, and long-term deterioration of your Kia K4 exterior trim.

Interior care

Maintaining the interior of your Kia K4 is vital to ensuring that its cabin remains as inviting and luxurious as the day it left the factory. Utilizing the following professional care guidelines will help you preserve the premium materials and advanced finish of your Kia K4 interior.

Interior general precautions

Chemical agents—including perfumes, cosmetic oils, sunscreens, hand sanitizers, and air fresheners—can cause premature degradation, stickiness, or permanent discoloration if they come into contact with the interior trim of your Kia K4. If any such substance touches a cabin surface, wipe it off immediately with a clean, soft cloth. For more stubborn residues, you may use a solution of warm water mixed with a mild, non-detergent soap. Always test any cleaning agent on a small, concealed area of the Kia K4 interior before applying it broadly.

CAUTION

Electrical components

Never allow water, cleaning solutions, or other liquids to penetrate electronic components, switches, or display screens inside your Kia K4, as moisture can lead to short circuits, permanent hardware damage, and costly repairs.

NOTE

Leather maintenance

When cleaning premium leather surfaces, such as the steering wheel or seat upholstery in your Kia K4, use only neutral pH detergents or specialized leather cleaning solutions with low alcohol content. Highly acidic or alkaline cleaners, as well as solutions with high alcohol concentrations, can strip the protective finish, dehydrate the material, and cause significant color fading.

Taking care of leather seats

  • Vacuum your leather seats periodically to remove abrasive dust, grit, and sand particles that can scratch or damage the leather grain over time, ensuring the long-term quality of your Kia K4 interior.

  • Gently wipe the leather seat surfaces frequently with a soft, clean, dry cloth to prevent the buildup of contaminants.

  • Regular application of a high-quality leather conditioner is recommended to prevent premature wear and maintain color vibrancy. Always follow the manufacturer's directions or consult a professional detailing specialist when selecting protective agents for your Kia K4.

  • Light-colored leather interiors, such as beige or cream, are more susceptible to visible soiling. Perform routine cleaning more frequently to keep your Kia K4 cabin looking pristine.

  • Avoid using wet or saturated cloths on leather seats, as excess moisture can infiltrate the material and cause the surface to stiffen or crack as it dries.

Cleaning the leather seats

Promptly remove all contaminants from the upholstery to prevent deep staining. For specific spills, follow these professional methods:

  • Cosmetics (sunscreen, foundation): Apply a small amount of leather-safe cleaning cream to a soft cloth and gently wipe the affected area. Follow up by wiping away the cream residue with a slightly damp cloth, then finish by patting the area dry with a clean, dry cloth.

  • Beverages (coffee, soda): Blot the spill immediately. Apply a light amount of neutral detergent to a cloth and wipe the area gently until the residue is fully lifted.

  • Oil or dye transfer (from blue jeans or clothing): Use an absorbent cloth to soak up as much of the contaminant as possible, then use a dedicated leather-safe stain remover to gently clean the area.

  • Chewing gum: Carefully harden the gum with a sealed ice pack, then gently lift and remove it in small pieces without scrubbing the leather.

Fabric seat cover:

Clean your fabric seats regularly using a vacuum cleaner attachment. For deep stains caused by liquids, use an automotive-approved interior upholstery cleaner. To ensure consistent results and prevent fabric pilling, use a soft sponge or microfiber cloth and apply gentle, broad wiping motions across the entire panel toward the seams.

Be mindful that velcro fasteners on clothing, as well as sharp objects, can snag the delicate weave of your fabric seats. Avoid dragging or rubbing such materials against the upholstery of your Kia K4.

Cleaning the upholstery and interior trim

Car interior surfaces

Remove loose dust and debris from all hard interior surfaces using a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner. If surfaces require deeper cleaning, use a mixture of lukewarm water and a mild non-detergent soap, testing in a hidden spot first to ensure compatibility with your Kia K4 interior materials.

Fabric surfaces

Remove loose particulate matter from fabric surfaces using a vacuum. Clean using a mild, professional-grade upholstery soap solution. Fresh spots should be treated immediately with an appropriate fabric spot cleaner to avoid permanent staining or degradation of the material's inherent fire-resistant properties.

Cleaning the lap/shoulder belt webbing

Clean the seat belt webbing using only mild, upholstery-safe soap solutions as directed by the product instructions. Do not use bleach or re-dying agents on the belt webbing, as these harsh chemicals can weaken the structural fibers and compromise the safety functionality of your Kia K4 seat belts.

Cleaning interior glass surfaces

If the interior glass surfaces of your Kia K4 exhibit fogging or a greasy, oily film, clean them thoroughly using a high-quality, ammonia-free automotive glass cleaner. Apply the product directly to a clean microfiber cloth rather than spraying the glass to avoid overspray on the interior trim.

NOTE

Rear window

Do not scrape or use abrasive materials on the inside surface of the rear window. The rear window defroster grid consists of delicate heating elements that are easily damaged by sharp objects.
