Towing Service

  1. Wheel dollies

If the Kia EV6 requires towing, the procedure should be performed by an authorized Kia dealer or a professional towing service equipped to handle electric vehicles.

Following the correct lifting and transportation procedures is essential to prevent damage to the electric powertrain, suspension, battery system, and drivetrain components.

WARNING

Side and Curtain Airbags

If the Kia EV6 is equipped with side and curtain airbags, place the EV button in the OFF position before towing begins.

If the vehicle remains in the POWER ON mode, the rollover detection system could interpret towing movement as a rollover event and trigger unintended airbag deployment.

CAUTION

AWD-equipped Kia EV6 models must never be towed with any wheels in contact with the ground. Always transport the vehicle using a flatbed tow truck or wheel dollies. Failure to do so may cause severe damage to the electric drive system and all-wheel-drive components.

NOTE

  • The Kia EV6 should not be towed with its tires rolling on the road surface. Flatbed transport or wheel dollies are strongly recommended.

  • If the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) cannot be released normally, load the Kia EV6 onto a flatbed tow truck and have the braking system inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

When a Flatbed Tow Truck Is Unavailable

A 2WD Kia EV6 may be towed with the non-driven wheels on the ground and without wheel dollies when absolutely necessary. Before switching the vehicle off, ensure the parking brake has been released.

If towing on only two wheels is unavoidable, always lift the driven wheels completely off the ground.

CAUTION

  • If any wheel, tire, axle, or suspension component has sustained damage, or if the driven wheels must remain on the ground, use towing dollies underneath the driven wheels.

  • Never tow the Kia EV6 using sling-type towing equipment. Wheel-lift equipment or a flatbed carrier should always be used.

  • Do not tow the Kia EV6 forward with the driven wheels touching the road surface, as serious drivetrain damage may occur.

Precautions for Using Towing Hooks During Short-Distance Vehicle Movement

When repositioning the Kia EV6 before loading it onto a tow truck, keep the vehicle speed below 3 mph (5 km/h) and limit travel distance to no more than 32 ft (10 m).

Shift the transmission into N (Neutral) and release the parking brake before moving the vehicle.

If the electric drive system or parking brake is not functioning correctly, all four wheels should be lifted using towing dollies or tire skates before moving the Kia EV6.
